In my point of view, all-in-one smartphones must have:
- Touchscreen.
- Wide QWERTY.
- All connectivity (GPS, Wi-Fi, HSUPA.)
- Acceptable Camera Quality.
E90 doesn't have a touchscreen. For now, X1 is likely all-in-one smartphones. Still, I don't satisfied with 3.2MP cam in X1.
And I agree that nowadays, A200 is the best implementation of Java, and comes closely in capabilities to smartphones concept by Symbian and WM. Furthermore,
SonyEricsson Developer World has provided a support for many people to makes a broad range of Third-Party Java Application and Games.
If they add:
- Embedded Office Support,
- Embedded Pdf Support,
- YouTube streaming support via embedded browser,
- More advanced Call Management and Calendar System,
into C905, that would makes C905 become a "smart" phone
If SE takes more serious into A200, and then adding TouchScreen Support in it, they don't need to bring SymbianFoundation or WM anymore. Let's call it A300? It's only a matter of time before many Third-Party Java Application and Games coming out. Just like Symbian in early life, isn't it? They needs to make a new trend.
@harri,
Don't tell everyone? Well, you already tell it!

Hiron ... thanx dude for clearing dat up for the less enchanted.
You guys keep asking me, how do I know this, how do I know that ... for peeks sake, read the prev. posts of mine, and then figure out who I am and how I know what I know ... Sheesh ... at times it feels like i'm addressing a bunch of kindergarden nit-wits wanting a higher degree in life ... !!!
As well next yr SE Sweden would be bringing a variant of the W61S into the European & US markets. Hence get an idea about that fone and you would know what to expect in 2009... As for CCD, sorrie dude, but it ain't happening. SE's cyber-shot fones will now incorporate the "Exmor" CMOS tech chip from Sony's Alpha DSLR's for the 5,8 & 10MP fones ...
Ciao.

SE makes fairly diverse designs, IMO. Good ones, too.

The only similarity I find among the phones you've listed is between the K750 and the W800.

@micks,
That's what I heard too. Exmor CMOS. Exmor concept isn't a bad idea. It's much cheaper than SuperHAD CCD. And if the sensor size is big, it can has the competitive sensitivity as CCD. That's why high-end Sony Alpha DSLR using Exmor CMOS (35mm diagonal size.)
But we are talking about small-sized CyberShot phone, not bulky-sized DSLR. That will forced SE to make a sensor that doesn't exceed 10mm diagonal, because of limited dimension. This small sensor would not get Exmor's full potential capability, and make it inferior to small-sized CCD.
That's why bulky-sized Sony Alpha DSLR using large-sized Exmor CMOS, while stylish & compact Sony DSC-T300 using SuperHAD CCD.
By the way, SuperHAD is a CCD technology by Sony, while Exmor is a CMOS technology by Sony
@Cristiano,
If you want to know SEMC Japan designed phone, just open
www.sonyericsson.co.jp
Take a look at W61S, SO905iCS, or SO906, and judge the design by yourself

WHAT! The K700, an AIO. It had a VGA camera, no gps, wifi, 3g, this couldn't have been an AIO. It may have been pretty advance for its time, however, this still doesn't make it an AIO. The C905 would be the first SE phone to be an AIO as it has a feature list that is the same or greater than the n95 (the benchmark for 2.5 years) Pretty soon though, I reckon, there will be another feature that would seem necessary to have on phones, make a new AIO breed.
An AIO is any phone that has all the best technology of the day. In the non-smartphone class, the K700 had everything that was available at the time. It had the highest resolution camera, the most user memory available (40mb), video recording, supported aac and mp3, advanced (for the day) web browsing, biggest screen, etc etc. It had the best of all technology available for non-smartphone handsets. I know because I did my research at the time and bought the K700 on that very basis. In the smartphone segment only P800 with memory expansion bested it. Remember this was before EDGE, before 3G, before windows smartphones. This is ancient history
At the time, no other OEM had such a rich feature package in a single phone other than that Nokia competitor to the P800 (can't remember the name). In terms of non-smartphones, no other phone could even touch K700. This didn't last long however, with S700 coming out shortly after with 1.3MP camera and memory expansion (still SE phone though).
An AIO only remains an AIO until new features come out. Just because you say a phone has to have 3G or GPS to be an AIO - what about when video projection, 4G, SVGA screens etc come out? On your reasoning a phone can never be an AIO until technology stops advancing
Regarding the K700, there has never since been a phone produced by SE with as complete a set of current technology. The N95 (I hate to say) is the K700 of the current market (though it's losing it's edge now)

In that case,i8510 will inherit that status.It has that everything bar,dvb-h (niche market),touchscreen (have that mouse like dpad to compensate partially).
and btw,6230 had edge,expandable memory.

but camera was poor quality given the resolution, screen resolution 208x208 compared to K700 176x220, but display was really crap and faded compared to K700, and was released over a year after the K700.
Also S700 had edge, 1.3mp and 320x240 screen (but memory expansion only up to 128MB) So you can see neither S700 nor 6230i were AIO's.
