@Jah , You aren't quite right buddy ! The SE Spock man said :'probably second quarter, but it may be delayed to third quarter and even later ! This is all what we 'officially' have from SE. All the other dates are unfounded speculations ! I personally don't expect it before christmas. By then the firmware should be OK too (hopefully) . Greetings from my N70 :) This message was posted from a Nokia

@Guy H, in the UK mobileshop.co.uk will sell you a SIM free P990 with a Vodafone contract and mobileshop.co.uk expect stock in early June. A Vodafone customised P990 will probably take longer to be available. This may explain the different information about availability. Remember mobileshop.co.uk can only sell you a Vodafone contract and phone if the phone works on the Vodafone network.

Also the Bengalboy review report will help you to discuss with your teacer of english lesson. Even just in HK @@

hmmmm

or that's hkee style english has different interpretation???? hehe

why WiFi is only work in flight mode is also my question to SE as I'm not blind to read these english ..... @@

have a gd english lesson

It depends on how you interpret SE's English What SE is trying to stress here is that if you activate Flight Mode, it will automaticall activate WiFi. The reason is to market this product to business users, cos many of them are already customers of Boeing's Connexion in flight WiFi customers Well, that's how I interpret it anyway.

If WiFi can only be activated in Flight Mode, SE would have placed it like this, e.g.,:

Connectivity
WiFi (only in Flight Mode)...

But rather, all their techincal specs states these:
Connectivity

* 80 MB internal memory
* 64 MB Memory Stick PRO Duo in the box
* Memory Stick PRO Duo support up to 8GB
* Bluetooth 2.0
* IrDa
* WLAN 802.11b
* High speed UMTS modem (384 kbps)
* USB Desk stand
* USB full speed and charging
* USB Mass storage
* PC synchronisation software

Or These:

Local Connectivity:
Infrared
Bluetooth
USB 2.0
WiFi

Simple English

' The differences can be explained by putting unlocked and locked stock next to each other... If the unlocked phones are expected June-July then you can expect locked and contract-tied phones to be available around August-September... It usually takes a month or two (average two) for any network to fully test and "certify" any handset before making it thusly available!

' Oh, and the WIFI usable in both flight and standard mode interpretation is correct btw... The emphasis that jjjimmy highlighted was meant to point out that WIFI could still be activated and used even in flight mode when other RF is turned off and unavailable on the phone. It wasn't meant to mean that switching to flight-mode is essentially the "on" switch / event for WIFI. I guarantee. Ask an english-major. <G>
' If you read carefully and avoid jumping to strange conclusions you should come up with the same result reading BengalBoy's review too...

Quote from jjjimmy second post:
"WiFi can only work on GSM/3G off!
Can missed GSM/3G phone calls forward to ur voip number when u use WiFi? @@
Is it a phone or PSP/iPod alternative? Believe phone call is priority 1 to biz user..... "

So how do you interpret that statement?

@ Menageryl,

read carefully what jjjjiiiiiiimmmmmmyyyy (or whatever his nick is) has been stating for the past few pages of this thread. As what Jah had earlier pointed out, he really is having the thoughts that P990i's WiFi can only work in Flight Mode...
