These are two different things. Spot photometry deals with how exposure is measured and has nothing to do with the focus.

Its not a question of picture quality...yes it does take better pics than the S700...have both to compare..
Its just that i have taken a couple of pictures where only spot photometry could possibly have coped...due to bright or dark surroundings
I do sincerely hope they bring it back as i don't see why they removed it pre-production

I know people are trying to be helpfull but there are times when its just needed...honest...i don't understand why they would remove a function present on pre-prod phones....

S700 had that too + spot photomometry. No reason to remove spot photomometry.
