The message from Jah:
This option is called multi-homing. GSM data call (CSD), GSM High Speed data call (HSCSD), Packet data (GPRS), Bluetooth or WLAN (feature P990) can act as a transport for connections.

Alrite alrite... a picture tells a thousand words... again, read the sentences in this pic in plain English

This comes directly from Bengalboy's review. It reads "The device is in Flight Mode BUT you can STILL USE WLAN. Enable WLAN now?" These 2 sentences will not make any sense if WLAN is non operational in GSM mode... Note the 2 keywords here... "STILL USE"...

Wow, ive been gone for too long! I like that phone alot, now that I moved to Stockholm maybe I can get it here. All the SE stuff is way cheaper here than it was in Canada.

adnhk1 + others,
sorry for the confusion, in my haste I noticed the following sentence at BangelBoys site "Thats right..... the Sony Ericsson P990i Supports WiFi Connections while the Device is placed in "Flight Mode"!!" and I mis-interpreted this. Okay its official, Bangelboy did not say WiFi causes the P990 into Flight Mode. Sorry for the confusion...but it did stop us from talking aout the release date for a while!

I hope this phone has a half decent build quality... I sold my p910i about 6months thinking I would've had it by now... so I needed summin in the meantime and got a few 8800's. If I try a few and feel like crap (the rubber buttons aren't making it look tooo great) then i'm not gona bother... and will prob never buy a SE untill it's upgrade!
