A few reasons, firstly it'll have a more powerful processor, since it is a smartphone it'll run complex apps and needs the extra horsepower.
Second, it has a QVGA screen, which is bigger than that of standard 176x220 screens SE tend to use. Also, because it is touch sensitive, it requires a little extra voltage charge for that purpose.
Lastly, the phone has 3G, which is great but it also uses more power than a standard 2G phone.

since the m600 has a much greater standby time than the w950, does that mean it had a better battery, or is not as complex?

my dad used to have a v500 motorola, and well the battery time sucked, he didn't even use it much and it would need to be recharged like three times a day...! according to newmobile.nl, the w950 has 250 hour standby time, and the v500 has a 210, now bearing in mind what i just said, does that mean the w950 will be nearly that ridiculous?
