multitasking has definitely improved. i've got 12 apps open right now with now probs. however, some things are bad. some apps doesn't work anymore - not even newest versions. the phone continously prompts me to install the uninstalled apps from my memorycard. when i press "install" it says corrupt file. how to get rid off this? just delete the items in d:/private/? i tried ma ter resetting a few times, which didn't help. i really don't want to format the card, as i almost use all 4 gbs..
the trick with installing fonts to d:/ressources/fonts doesn't work for me nomore
sound level has increased, but quality is a lot worse imo - it lacks bass..
we cant use focus in videocamera mode with the old "focus then switch to video
-trick anymore.
browsing in inbox is laggy for me (500+ messages)
new icons for some apps
quickoffice seems a bit faster at typing words - still damn slow imo, though.
opera has gotten a better way to show if u clicked on a link. seems more stable.
still bug with recording video to mem. card

what i've noticed so far

edit: radio is updated with a new button for sound and slideshow simply isnt working properly for me

i tried updating mine again. no luck

i have a GW1 phone/ and im in U.S.

soo i guess everything is gravy.. cuz i really dont feel like reinstalling everything and going thru the crap again =p

Yes Yes, there WAS a new f/w. The date is saying 07/04 now. I think the R5A16 said 09/03 if I remember it right. If so, the R5A17 is allmost a month newer

Going to try the restore thing now

just updated, everything works like a charm. no problems at all. all apps work great agile messenger,worldmate, all apps from epocware. NOTE I DID NOT BACKUP AND RESTORE, I INSTALLED EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH. i only backed up my contacts and calendar entries. DO NOT DO A RESTORE.

since I upgraded the RADIO in media player won't work. I get a notice that says "corrupt". Anyone else have this problem?

Guys today my camera application crashed 4 times... I restarted the phone and it worked fine...

The phone also had an automatic restart to improve performance... I think I used the phone a lot today after the upgrade...

One more thing, I think there is more memory leak than before... Even after using my phone for just 20mins and then closing all app. I had only 10MB RAM left...

Okay. as the new fw is out and many are updating and many are going to be. here are my xperinces with the new fw. sorry for my inglish if you can' onderstand it.

1. the menus are fast, really really fast. although transition seting is off by defult by i blv one wud not mind keeping it on with new fw. its cool work by SE. i have around 447 contacts in my phone book that used to crawl with previous FW, every time i used to wait for say half sec to jump to next contact. but in new fw its smooth.

2.The autofocus is improved but i still don't get pics that can challenge my old k750i. i do understand that 990 is not a camera phone but u know when you buy a Mercedes-Benz then you xpect all the features features of your old suzuki car is by default there or may be improved. u certainly wudn't like a Mercedes-Benz with a prefited tape-player when you have already n'joyed mp3 player in suzuki.

3. The onscreen keyboard layout has improved i think. am not sure abt this though.

4. Inbuilt Opera is damn cool, no more crashes or errors. superfast even at multiple pages.

5. for game lovers Vijay Singh Golf is back

6. Now memory is managed by colsing other application. that means we may not see all the applications that you have opened in task mgr if running something memory hungry application simultaniously. new FW will close other application to get the memory for running the current application. so be carefull if you do a lot of switch in task mgr. i blv Swiss Knife (SM) is no more needed.
7. The inbuild note hand sketch option is fast now. i need this most. as am an architect and do small sketches while traveling.
8. Applications are starting fast even the 3rd party ones installed in memory stick.
9. Volume has increased. but have not tried with many diffrent file. shall test and let you know.
10. I don't know is this is true or its just a +ev feeling that battery life has increased. before my set used to drain almost 40% in 12 hour but its now i have drained 35% mind it am testing all my apps and FW and recieved number of calls

i think above is enough ....shall let you know other later.
