in that, your point is p990 is the end of the line for such devices? cos' i can only see p1 as being a replacement for the m600. the reason why SE would include a 3.2 mp camera with it is not cos' it should have better specs than the p990, therefore suceeding it. rather i think it's cos' of market dissatisfaction regarding the lack of camera in m600. also, 3.2mp seems the reasonable resolution given current market demands. so p1 in essence is just an m600 with tweaks.

The P1 isn't a replacement for the P990. Nor is it, the P990s successor in the same way as when the M600 was announced it wasn't the successor or replacement for the P910i.
It is just a new phone, which happens to have a more in common with the M600 so if it was to "replace" any it would be the ageing M600 not the 6 month old P990!!
But that is just my opinion and i will not be provoked into arguing about it some may agree and some will definitely disagree, either way i will still be a happy chappy!

I'll say no more on the whole P1/P990 controversy except this - the idea that this is a replacement for the M600 is false, because a true replacement for the M600 wouldn't have a camera. The M600 was a relatively cheap messaging-oriented phone directed at the corporate market where the lack of camera would be a selling point; a premium phone with a whopping great 3.2mp camera on the back is no replacement for that at all!
It's also got far more in common with the P990 as far as the specs go. Aside from the camera it's also got Wifi, breaching the other dividing line between the M600 and P990 to date, and making it much more of a flagship-standard model. The only real link to the M600 is the form factor, but given that this is obviously a P series phone with a P series designation, it's obvious that the form factor is now every bit as "P" as it is "M".
