i have attempted to confirm with t-mobile for the last week about this hanset and when it will be available. They just keep saying to me that they have no further info than what is on the website.

They would not discuss price plans or anything. I just cant believe that nobody there has some idea of a launch date. Athey do is waffel on about testing their software and tell me to call back again in a few days time.

its becoming very anoying now

^^The frontline staff are often the last to know and probably know no more than what is on the official site.

Sim free doesnt mean you have to purchase the phone with out a sim card, it can also mean that its not gerneral network locked.

Uhm.. yes it does mean that you purchase the phone without a SIM.. that's why it's called SIM free. They are unlocked so that you can use any SIM card in it. You can use any SIM card in a phone from O2, whether PAYG, Pay Monthly or otherwise because it's unlocked. If you buy a SIM free phone the price isn't subsidised because the networks themselves don't gain anything from it.

No, if you get an O2 contract phone, in 99% of cases the phone's firmware is branded(and flash menus disabled, etc), not generic, which also means the handset is NOT a generic/sim-free one. Hence the different CDA numbers for O2 branded phones......

If you but the phone from o2 it self, yes the phones are o2 branded with a different cda. However The only branding that currently o2 do to there phones are the o2 icon is in place of the play now icon, o2 start up logo and shutdown logo. K800/K810.
I couldnt say for any of the other SE.
Nokia N80 and Nokia N95 are the same with minimal branding.

Regarding disabling menus, none to my knowledge, but this may have and could change?

I have done lots and lots of software updates for the K800/810and debranding and so far o2 do not disable any menus. Regarding the FOTA menu, this is still there and working correctly on these models

The K850i branding from what i have seen has again only has the o2 icon that replaces the play now icon. Other than that the phone is left untouch.

However until i get the phone in my hand i then will be able to confirm then.

Regarding the release of the phone

O2 are due to release week commencing 8th Oct.

CPW are due to release aprox 12th Oct.

I have just spoke to Onestopphoneshop and even though its on there website, it wont be sent out until the 12th Oct.

All the networks are down for different colours, depending on where you get the phone from.
either direct or shops.

o2 shops are currenlty blue.
Hope this helps.

Yep on O2 system it says from week commencing 8th Oct. So it could be any time that week all going to plan.

O2 shops saying that they should have the phone about 10th Oct.

CPW says that on there system it says aprox 12th oct.

The above days are all approx, so anything could change.
