I just registered my interest online with O2 regarding the new iphone on pay and go. Hopefully they will get back to me when they say they will.

Does anyone know the pay as you go price yet.

I would hazzard a calculated guess at the prices being around the prices for the previous iPhone models.

that would also be my guess, and as I mentioned before, probably the only way we'll be able to do anything like we used to in terms of unlocking and jailbreaking

but that would be fine by me as I don't want an o2 contract if I can help it

Hi Masseur,

Like most i am very curious to see if it can be hacked but more interested to see just how many of the new functions will work if not registered and activated properly. As it seems many of these things may use connections with the Apple servers and Apple may well block devices not officially activated.

I suppose we just need to wait for it's release and see how it plays out well at least it's not to long t wait.

Marc

I would hazard a guess that it will be £269 for the handset on Pay & Go, and that there will be special Pay & Go tariffs.

I would imagine that you would get free unlimited internet, calls, texts etc. if you top up an obscene amount each month, in which case it would actually be cheaper to take out the contract, in my opinion.

@Dogmann, I guess they could have blocked access to the itunes store even now if this was their mentality, and though they are certainly toughening their stance, I wonder if they will take it that far

either way, I know I won't be buying until I've seen some answers to these types of questions

If they blocked access to features like the iTunes music store, they'd miss out on a lot of money. And for that reason I believe they won't be too strict on people. They may block some features, but the real money-makers will probably be left to collect the cash. Its all about profit.

I dont bother with things like downloading tracks from providers anyway. I get all my music from my collection from my pc to phone. As i said i cant get an O2 contract they wont let me. I top up with O2 around 40 quid per month but i get alot back in free allowances treats and rewards so its not bad really. I pay for unlimited data each month but having problems right now their internet is slow and crashing all the time. Hope it improves with the iphone.

It seems abit pointless to actually get one on pay and go, fair enough to hack it if your on contract with another provider is one thing but to fully utilize wifi and safari out and about will be costly without a contract, what you get on the £35 tariff is pretty good, plus £99 for the phone.
