What's with people wanting camera flashes on phones? I find the light so much more useful - it's great as a torch, when paired with an app like htorch. Putting a flash on a phone camera is like putting a turbo on a Vespa... it'll go a bit better, but it's still a Vespa.

x2 price confirmed

Here in Norway one online store sell the X2 for EUR 670,- at the same time they are selling the X1 for 587,-
That is GBP 615,- for the X2 and GBP 540 for X1. Aka USD 980,- for X2 and USD 860,- for X1.

Norway is expensive so the price should be compared to other devices. The same online store sells the
- Samsung i8910 Omnia HD for EUR 684,-
- HTC Touch Pro for EUR 676,-
- Nokia N97 for Euro 633,-

The question is. If you have 680 Euro to spend on a phone. Which one would you choose? The Omnia HD, Touch Pro, N97 or the X2?

Personally, I would buy the iPhone 3gs 16gb for £440 pay as you go and put the remaining £175 back in my pocket.

I like the x2 and a fluid user interface and fm radio are a must but I won't be holding my breath for them. Even with those the asking price is too much. So what chance does this phone really have? Many high spec phones are trying to become mass market, se wants to keep this niche. Silly.

Anyone who is is in the market for an X2 will, I am pretty sure, have either considered or even owned an Iphone. It's a great piece of kit but they are for differnet markets. A high end Winmob smart phone with a keyboard is unbeatable for anyone who wants business apps, easy transfer of documents from third parties or support for flash Web Pages at the moment.
Winmob is pretty good at other leisure tasks, and has a usable touch interface but no one denies the Iphone is better there despite a few niggles. The biggest downside is it costs more, a lot more when you load it up with a decent software suite but if you need what it does that the iphone can't then the extra cost is irrelevant. If the Iphoen does everything you need then it's the one to get. I do think there are a huge group of i-phone owners who don't realise that there is a functionality choice as well as interface.

I need the business apps and the leisure stuff is good enough for me. I find the X1 isn't perfect but it's paid for itself many times over and I'll pick up an X2 as soon as I can contract free.

Excellent XPERIA X2 performance, best JVM on a Windows Mobile device

This is just in from the Sony Ericsson Developer World Twitter feed. Apparently the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 has the highest Jbenchmark PRO score ever, despite the performance disadvantages of its very high resolution display! That’s quite remarkable, to say the least.

For some reason I STILL love the styling of this phone and the other W995a.

I figured to post this video for those that are worried about the smoothness of the X2's WM6.5 build.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 - Hands on

btw, this was taking on "September 05, 2009". I'm sure SE had more time to refine it even further. Of note we can always change from SE's panel to SBH's and improve speed; but I'm content with what I see in this video. After posting in a few threads on my 3GS I now begin to understand perfectly what Domistry has said about seeing the full context of his posts. Oddly enough in emails this doesn't affect me, only posting on web forums. Hmm.

The retail pricing of the X2 is STILL way too high ... and soon the competition will also release an 8MP camera to compete.

PS: don't hit me for asking but can Android 2.0 be ported to this X2?
