You sure love your windows mobile! I have to say that I find the X2 really appealing in terms of design. If it is smooth in operation then kudos to SE.
Sadly, I have decided not to buy any SE phone until I see a good or acceptable financial statement for the second quarter of next year.
I don't want to buy something from a company that's going to die (I'm not implying that they are going to die next year) and be left with the same situation as was the case with Ericsson.
If they improve then that P1-like Android phone is mine.
Good luck SE, still my favourite phone brand despite your problems. Even though you irritate me often I still hold a place for you in my heart.
So, here's hoping and wishing for sustainable improvement in your Q2, 2010 results.
Otherwise I'll still be here at Esato always.
The only problem is that I can't find any other device which will match.
There's such fashion now to get rid of keyboards and hardware controls and to apply capactive screens,
that my choice is SO limited.
I'd never trust Samsung or LG neither...
I don't think SE will die haha..... However who knows.
But yes - WindowsMobile all the way now.. For now the best platform.
Even if WM 6.1 and even 6.5 looks old and uninteresting today,
there are some ugly boring parts of UI....
But the functionality which is given is the best.

Wait you need keyboards too? If so...man I can feel you. I'm stuck with choosing droid if I have to, and if SE comes out with something that I can have a keyboard with(which they will) I'm going to lap it up in a second.

@Dups,
Ericsson did not die, hardly from it! Their decision to leave the handset manufacturing & sales business was simply due to economics. There products were not selling enough worldwide ~ despite the success of the T18z & T36m. Before the deal with Sony, Ericsson was still making profits since they had increasing chipset orders for the competition and huge contracts for building networks (there bread and butter).
In many ways Motorola is in the same boat with there handset division even though now their sales is increasing healthy with major contracts in China this coming quarter! Its still considering separating the handset division.
Ericsson has already pledge to reinvest millions into their partnership if its in need =

@Prom1
By 'die' I actually meant they decided to exit the mobile division.
I know about what lead to their decision to leave the cellphone market especially that infamous fire in that Philips plant that caused the most damage making them unable to compete.
@doministry
I also am left with little choice sinci I WANT a touchscreen phone with a physical QWERTY keypad a la the P1. Blackberry lacks that at this stage and Nokia is a no go for me unless they have that phone in their maemo os cause I hate S60 with a passion.

@Dups! @se_love
Yes I need keyboard plus hardware controls.
Otherwise the device will be like a little computer extension,
not capable of extensive works.
I could work on Pseries, I can work on X1 and will be able on X2
however they already got rid of two keys and a real hardware navipad.
The capactive screen is also no go for me: as well as this technology greatly simplifies more basic operations,
it kills more advanced work many situations. Basically you cannot even press OK on this screen with the gloves on your hands....
So instead of extending functionality you loose some of it.
Week ago my friend who loves his iPhone was DEEPLY surprised I can
operate my touchscreen with ANYTHING I want so also with nail, pen, any stylus...
I start to accept that anything I consider valuable is widely recognized as bad or worse... UIQ, hardware keys, Resistive screen... Hopefully WM will stay.

@doministry, btw there are gloves that work with capacitive touch screens. I think the reason so many manufacturers still choose not to use it "probably" (I don't know for certain) to do with licensing.
I think the main issue for non-hardware devices is more just familiarity & also if you use RDP often ... touchscreen keyboards still take up so much of the screen, especially in landscape. On the BB Storm2 it uses the least screen real-estate in landscape that I've seen with the native OS. Aftermarket keyboards on WM I'm not sure. Still its too limited. I realized that using the iPhone and it helped me purchase my BB.

Yay, some more keyboard fans! If I wanted a phone for basic calls and text it would be an iPhone but since I have to do work, its an X1 at the moment. WinMo also helps to do more difficult tasks on your mobile so I'm always looking out for phones like the X2.
You will be glad to know there is an Android with physical keyboard to come but I find WinMo to be more professional. I am so into the HTC HD2 but no keyboard makes it tricky for work also, it takes me ages to type with an on screen keyboard. I won't be going for the X2 because its hardware is already very old, I shall wait for the new HTC line up because there should be a qwerty with a capacitive touch screen on WinMo out in Q1 hopefully.
I agree that
are lacking a P1 type phone but I guess the new Android will rectify this. There is also a N97 type phone on Symbain in the works, maybe we get the lot at MWC? January should be the month for leaks, I want people to see the square phone and either
or
but it will
regardless.

I read it here and there but honestly I cannot confirm that.
I wouldn't say WM is perfect in this regard - no - but I cannot really complain on that, it's the most stable smartphone I've had.
And considering the amount of activity on the device, I have to say - it's stable!
Badassmam thx again for info.....

The square phone sounds like it will split the fanbase into two. The mad ones who support it and the ones who are considering themselves to be smart to ignore it. And an Android with keyboard? Well damn, finally a smart phone by SE I can support.q

The 'square' phone is reminding me of that horrendous square Nokia phone with the buttons down the sides from years ago.
Sounds likes lots of phones on the way.
