^It's mostly about the display and software.
The new display has some tricks under its sleeves that make it very power efficient.
On the software side, there are new battery saving modes to use.

The Z and Z1 failed to deliver good battery performance mainly because of their awful displays.

Does this phone actually use new battery technology or is it purely down to software optimisation and more mAh.

Cache memory for the display and probably some software tweaks. Oh, and it has a less battery capacity, 3100 mAh vs 3200 mAh of Z2.

Why are so few android OEMs adding a physical camera button to their phones ? I really don't understand it.. its so much easier to launch the camera that way, even when the phone is locked.

According to the reviewer, the speaker is good with music, but lacks quality with voices.
As an example he plays a movie trailer at 23:25

I don't understand the lack of physical camera button either.
But the really annoying thing, you might not believe it, if I have a lockscreen pattern /password/number activated, I can't even start the camera from the lockscreen!? And I guess the S4 is not the only device with that "feature", wtf..

It's for security reasons. If i steal your phone, i can't use it unless is unlocked. This includes using the camera for taking pics /clips.

^I know, but as far as I know there are other phones, which allow you to launch he camera while you have lockscreen patterns activated, but only for taking pictures, if you want to watch/delete the pictures or anything else, you have to unlock the device first. Makes more sense to me that way.
