All bow to the new endurance kings: Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact score a record battery life

KNEEL BEFORE ZED!

Z3: 9 hrs, 29 mins
Z3C: 14 F*CKING HOURS, 44 SH*TTING MINUTES

PS: They are currently redoing the Z3C battery test, that's how surprised they are.

That battery life is astounding. Sony's gone a long way to sorting out what's been the main bugbear with Smartphones since they were invented.

A fast processor and a bright hi res screen doesn't now mean you have a phone that lasts only a day or so. They seem to be the only company making strides in this area.

UPDATE: We are re-testing the Xperia Z3 Compact at the moment, as it lasted way more than anything we've benchmarked so far on the first run, just to be double certain about its amazing battery life score before we repost it.

It's been more than half a day already, I think it got 14 hours again.

No sir, I meant PA's redo of Z3C's battery test. I wish I can buy the Z3C, though.

Z3c's 14 hrs and 44 minutes has been slashed by quite a big part.

it's now only 10 hours and 2 minutes.

i think there should be a third test. it's unfair that they re-test because it's too high for them but they now settle for the lower number because they think it's what's realistic. a reduction of 4 hours and 42 minutes is quite big. that's around a third of the score reported earlier.

yes, i'm being trivial but sony needs some compelling bragging rights and convincing marketing buzzwords these days to survive.

anyway, here's stuff's review of the Z3
http://www.stuff.tv/sony/sony-xperia-z3/review

It was even more impressive in our battery rundown, clocking just under 14 hours (13 hours 52 minutes to be exact) on our 720p video loop with Wi-Fi on and half brightness. Now, it's worth noting that the Xperia Z2 managed 12 and a half hours in the same rundown so it's not a huge difference on playback alone, but in regular use it's certainly enough to get you four or five extra hours on top of an already excellent battery life. The LG G3, in comparison, lasted for 9 hours 25 on the same test.

Well, it seems fine, both Z3s are on top. Now they just need to improve charging time, 3 hours seems ridiculous.

Just got my hands on the Z3C today as my in-store demo has turned up, thinking of taking it home as a loaner device and getting some shots and comparing to my Z1. Will post them tonight if I get the chance.

PS did'nt know they now have a "Super Vivid Mode" along side X-Reality in the display options.
