^ argh. Why does the top left corner always looks blurry. It's annoying. Everything else is perfect. I hope it will be fix on future software updates. Other than that it's brilliant.

It's not only the top left corner, even the other corners in some photos are blurry. This might be down to the actual focal length and the distortion, 24mm for the sony vs 28mm for apple.
Seems there are still more artifacts in the sony photos and a but more noise, especially around the edges of objects. In some photos the apple has even more detail on certain objects as well.
As for that nighttime photo...pathetic to say the least. Zoom in onto the tall white building on the left, in the iphone photo you can clearly see the individual rails in the guard, noise is also well controlled.
Seems Sony still can't get their photos to where they should be, even with their alpha division. At this rate, I feel I would save my money for the next RX100 and keep my Z3.

Those photos from iPhone 6 plus have also the same problems when I look at this photos.
Those sensors are small, all camera phone have those problems, do not pretent only Sony have such issues.

The XZ might not take the best photos but at least it isn't going to blow up on you!!

xperiajunkie - i went with blue! i'm excited. gonna resell those headphones though. I'm wondering how much I can get for them. ebay would probably kick my ass with fees so i may need to find another marketplace. craigslist maybe.
and i think the photos look pretty damn good.
if you're wasting your time zooming in on corners and viewing those corners at 100% to see if you can make out fine pixels for lines of detail that aren't even the primary focus of the photo... well, you need to rethink your life priorities. if that's the kind of performance you want, get a real camera.

I personally, like most people view 99% off all photos taken on my phone and very rarely will I pixel peep on my laptop at them. I've got a few photos printed off and few enlarged on canvas all of which look fantastic and I'm sure the XZ will be even better then any mobile camera phone I've used before. I'll wait until DXOmark review the phone rather than biased GSMarena and other site of the same. I'll be picking my phone up on Tuesday evening and I'll snap a couple of photos and upload them asap.

^look forward to them! I'm jealous you'll get it so soon. I have practically another month to wait. 3 weeks til clove gets stock then 3-20 days for it to ship and clear customs. hopefully customs won't hold it up for some stupid reason.
