Well the P910 is a great upgrade for the P800 owners, but not for the P900 owners. We are gonna wait for the P1000 with mpx camera, wifi, symbian 8 and uiq 3.

. Seems like upgrading makes sense for SE models every other model. ->T610owners buy K700 skip T630. P800 owners buy P910, skip P900. P900 owners buy P1000 skip P910.

At the end of the day SE (and all the others) produce new phones to attract NEW customers to 'bond' with them and any people who bump up from a P800/900 is a bonus. Remember if we all remove our blinkers ther are more people out there without a SE phone than with.

I agree with you that whoever owns a P900 already, it isn't worth the upgrade to P910. It's a great buy for new Pxxx buyers(me maybe?), but not worth the hassle for you lucky guys that already have the P900. I also read somewhere that the P900 will be discontinued when the P910 arrives. They've already stopped producing the P900 a month ago to free up the production for the P910. This seem very probable, because the P900 haven't been widely avaliable here in Norway for months already, and many of the retailers think they won't get it either before the release of the new P910.
Oooh, I want one now!!

Ahh I knew 3 and a half hours sleep would be too little to face the morning posts here.
@all P900 owners:
This phone isn't targetted at you, get over your

persecution complexes. Did you own P800s and then upgrade while p800 owners felt like they were getting a raw deal? Hmm, food for thought maybe? Oh no its not the same.. please.

clearly shows they were aiming this at business people, and I don't see how it isn't. Its a PHONE still. I can see why they don't add 3g as yet or a host of other features, batteries for one. From what I see k700 owners are complaining of between 12-24 hours constant usage while having animated backdrops, radio, mp3 and other features all wearing down the battery life. Wifi and other features now would just suck a Px00 battery down .
Added quick office to the bundle, hmm makes sense, give business people the ability to edit excel and word docs. Improved the messaging folders. Added a thumbboard and balckberry. Gave it more memory which also effects how many contacts it can hold. (With the boost in memory the phone has, i'd hate to hazzard a guess at how many contacts it can hold now, 6000, 8000? P800 could could a fair amount if its memory was fairly clean and this is head and shoulders more than it)
If you're a P900 user the nxt big one will come out when symbian 8 is available IMO. Then we'll most likely see 3G + MP Camera + WiFI + whatever else they feel is needed into the phone.
@dimenxian
"i can live with 128MB of memory, a VGA camera and 16-bit colour. but i can't accept the lack of Wireless LAN, the 400k*bits* per second fake-USB interface, and the relatively poor application support anymore. why?"
Agreed, USB speed could be improved, but its not unlivable. Wifi, I wouldn't get your hopes up. how does wifi make money for operators currently? You can bet if it did ALL manufacturers would have wifi enabled devices by now.
Poor application support? I'll disagree with you here. I've yet to see things the P900 can't do. Telnet, ssh, vpn, browsing, perfect for the admin on the go. What are you looking for for the phone, full MYOB, Visio, and lotus notes all built in and sold out of the box?
If you're looking for full application support then look at a laptop, remember this is a phone, even

will tell you that as much as its PDA its primary function is to be a phone. (its just a very advanced one)
"...a Game Boy Advance SP.."
You're thinking Motorolla there. With the game buttons all over it. The Px00's are like the Amiga was, a wolf in sheeps clothing. Designed for one purpose but exploited fo ohers by its programmers. The amiga was only designed as a gaming computer, bt rapidly evolved to do far more things. Likewise the Px00s were designed as a business phone but also have been eploited to enjoy the fun side of things too.
@Orangeman:
":se: have spent all this time developing improved strorage, more colours and quirky (not qwerty) keyboard/pad?!?"
I doubt they spent all that much time on it, I would imagine R&D went more into the K and S 700's more than the 910.
@all:
heh I predicted that msot whining would come from current P900 owners, why? because this isnt' a product aimed at you. For p800 owners and non Smartphone owners this is a perfect good buy and should be taken on all its merits which are the functions of both the 900 and the 910 over previous devices.
Compared to the 900 there really isn't all that much you can't do via software except the Memory, Screen and Duo Pro. (I don't expect to see SE start handing out memory chips, new roms and new screens though

)
I do think its a little stupid to shoot the phone in the foot even before its out.

is keeping their smartphone line from going stagnent, as anyone crying out "This is for business" should already know, you can't just rest on you laurels. Phones keep changing too much and always have new competition, would you just be happier

always ships the same model with nothing new for 12+ months?
Think about this, why would

shoot the S700 in the foot by putting its camera and software into a p9xx currently? Or by putting 3G functions of the Z1010 into a p9xx currently? Talk about doing a Nokia and super ceeding handsets in one foul sweep.
@http:
"sure its a business but business sense suggests that a company improves their device properly and keep their target audience happy not just slightly tweak it and piss them off?"
Seems to me they have, anyone else projecting that this should be a major overhaul for P900s or have every feature under the sun is either dellusional or quite frankly over reacting.
@anyone who isn't trolling
... Meh.
I say good release

or what its aimed at and for older owners looking at a smart phone its not bad at all, but if you're already running the latest, be happy until the next big symbian/uiq release that will give them something to really build on.

The thing to consider is how much it would have cost S-E to develop a 3G/WiFi/EDGE/MP version.
I reckon that a 3G Symbian v7/UIQ phone with WiFi would cost >$100m in R&D costs alone, leaving aside the actual bill-of-materials for the hardware & software. Given that there isn't a 3G-supporting version of UIQ at present, it would have needed lots of custom software & hardware like the Motorola 3G phones, which have essentially been subsidised by Hutchison 3.
Think about it - the Nokia 9500 is going costs about $1000 - and I bet Nokia makes a loss on every one. And it's not even 3G.....

Well I don't think that it is becaus of the cost that SE hav'nt released a "new" Pxxx(x). It is simly to soon for a new model.
Nokia have canselt there TV-phone so that will leave SE with a bit of berating space.
There are so many complaints about the new P910. Think about the level of complaints there would have been if SE had presented a new Pxxx(x) 6 months after launching the P900.
I believe that the next generation in the P series will se the light of day in the spring and hit the stores at summertime.
I am a happy P900 owner and even though I have “just” bought mine it doesn’t matter. There is nothing in the P910 that I use that isn’t in the P900.
Regarding to the MSD Pro question in some of the other threads the SE website says nothing about MSD Pro.
The link is in Danish but you should be able to se the MSD in the product specifications

er..in the UK we only have one 3G network and it does nor support high speed data, Oh yes and Vodafone - but they only provide 3G data and only 50% coverage. Who would SE sell their 3G Pxxx to?
Orange & Voda now have an operational 3g network
