I just set up the new router and here is the speedtest result, somewhat improved from before I have to say!!
Nice!
Vodafone's red network doesn't quite reach my suburb and I'm miles away from a telephone exchange anyway.

We had a Telecom rep knock on our door last week and announce that our exchange has been upgraded to the ADSL2 standard
Mine is ADSL2 as well but we've had no Telecom rep come round. Did they just give you a new router?
We have a wireless router so I guess they won't give us a free one of those...

Yeah they are working their way around the suburbs as they get it from what the guy was saying, we just had to sign up for a further 24 month contract which is not a problem as we aren't likely to jump ship. I'm glad of the new router because we've had endless problems with the D-Link overheating when Wi-Fi is enabled

I know aye! my non-wifi modem gets hot enough to burn you when you touch it, so it is very hard to reset when it f***s up.

You have to change your modem to the new ADSL2+ modem. Telecom, Vodahug and TelstraClear can all supply them if your local exchange has been upgraded.
Is ADSL2+ available at my address?

Telecom

Vodafone

I'm keen but we should see if we can arrange an overseas guest such as PK, Masseur or one of the European or South African members as well. If not, then a Summer or Winter meetup as described previously would be fine by me.

@carkitter: Thanks for the link but we're not a new customer.

It's a shame they don't normally do anything for their loyal customers.
I found out last night that my wireless router gets pretty warm too. And it's on 24/7 and has been for several months. It's not hot enough to burn but I wonder if I should be worried with it being warm so long?

Ring them. We have always been with them and they supplied our new router for free!
