Truly impressive, but you can still see compression artifacts. Would love to see RAW data from this camera.
And FWIW for 20mpix camera this kind of picture should have around 10mb at least, then it would really shine

It is an improvement. It doesn't look at all like stretched image from Z which many feared would be the case. It retains high amount of details and has nice colors. Should easily replace standalone compact camera.
One thing they should still work on is compression, it's still slightly too high and you can see typical compression artifacts. But maybe it's due to pre-release version of firmware and probably camera is one of the things they'll work till the last minute.

The device is XZU.

I'm sure of Adam outler would know if it was the ZU, you should look him up, btw why would sony go through all this trouble to hide in a case so that no one knows what it looks like but actually is the ZU while coming to the xdadevcon13??Unless Adam has a short term memory problem that he takes pictures of the ZU at 8.48(https://plus.google.com/u/0/104711040110222472212/posts/URjzZz1T3HL) and then at 11.06 posts that picture with the caption unannounced Sony device

Doesn't make any sense but still you could be right.

Please refer to the following picture which was posed and confirmed to be XZU a few months ago in a Chinese forum. The 2 pictures have too many similarities. Just my opnion.

True that, I wish Sony could give it RAW shooting capability, that should eliminate these JPEG artifacts, anyway the last time we heard RAW with a cameraphone was with Motorola ZN5.

Other than that, the image quality does look promising
