well as I said, if anything at all, people should use religion to better themselves and not simply have something to control themselves.
Some join a faith because they enjoy it's history, some need a reason to live, some want to better themselves, and some just want to be part of a group.
Many reasons.
In Islam, scientific theories are never dismissed simply because it questions God but in some cases they are tried to be explained.
I know some people who actually believe in more than one religion and follow each to the best of their abilities because like parts from each.
At the end of the day if you can do good in this world,I'm sure it'll count for something.

a little passage i found from google:
Dear friend, if you look for meaning in life, don’t look for it in religions; don’t go from one cult to another or from one guru to the next. You can expend all your life or look for eternity and will find nothing but disappointment and disillusionment. Look instead in service to humanity. You will find “meaning” in your love for other human beings. You can experience God when you help someone who needs your help. The only truth that counts is the love that we have for each other. This is absolute and real. The rest is mirage, fancies of human imagination and fallacies of our own making." By Ali Sina
Why is this interesting? Because we found this religion of Sikhism to be in agreement with you! This is why we have a problem. We tried to look at their holy text (Adi Granth) but didnt find the usual absurdities we found in the other religious books. In fact its refreshingly inspiring and very good!? Maybe you can have some better luck. We tried to visit a couple of websites and got more of a shock. Did you know that they believed in Democracy, freedom of speech, choice, expression, freedom of religion, pluralism, human rights, equality between men and women, equality of all people regardless of race, religion, caste, creed, status etc. 300 years before the existance of the USA! Theirs is the only religion which says in their religious scriptures that women are equal in every respect to men. They even had women soldiers leading armies in to battle against "you know who" (The usual suspects - Muslims!) Their history is a proud one, they fought in both World Wars. Even Hitler praised them for their bravery and Aryan heritage!
Amnesia, Peterkay etc.. u like that one ?

It was extremely disturbing to know that you stood on the floor and quoted Sikh militants as the ones who blew up the Indian Prime Minister. Some of us have watched you on C-SPAN. How wrong can you get? How could you blame the Sikhs when they were not involved in the act? For your information, it is well-known fact that it was a Tamil Lady who blew him apart and whose group in turn has been trained by Mossad in Israel. What a shame it is for an US Congress man to tell a lie like this.
As you are well aware, there are always militants in any struggle for freedom who will fight the oppressor the same way as the tyrant is doing, but that does not mean the whole community (nation) should be discredited. Look at the Jewish struggle for independence for the state of Israel. No body has forgotten the names of Menachem Begin, David Ben-Gurian, Yitzhak Shamir and Eli Cohen amongst others, who were terrorists in the eyes of their oppressors but freedom fighters in the eyes of Jews. Sikhs are no exception. Sikhs not only fought Hitler and the tyrant Nazis, but also helped the Jews to make the state of Israel. If you do a little research, you will find these to be facts.
Sikh leaders were the first ones to recognize the state of Israel as an independent country in l949. Where as India never acknowledged Israel until recently. The Indian Government untill recently prohibited the Sikhs and others from visiting Israel and South Africa, because they were not considered as the friendly countries. Have we forgotten these facts?
This recent opening of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. is a reminder to us all that " NEVER AGAIN " this will happen on the face of the earth. Let us revere that pledge which applies to every community, not Jews alone. Being the citizens of the United States of America, the greatest nation on the face of the earth, we also have a mutual obligation as Americans to show respect to each other sentiments, religious beliefs and the human rights and to work together to oppose the tyrant, no matter who he or she may be.
Let us give you some scenario about the Sikh faith. Sikhs believe in one God and pray for the welfare of the whole mankind. Sikhs are peace-loving people, but never submit to oppression. It is the history of the Sikhs that they do not forgive tyrants. Look at the quest of the Nazi hunting by the Jews. Believe us, the Sikhs are no exception.
The day, the Sikhs get their own state of Khalistan, the tyrants will be brought to book. But one scenario Sikh will not like to see. And that is the affiliation of the Jews or any other God fearing people ( Nation) with tyrants who have massacred and butchered the innocent Sikhs. Unfortunately India’s state terrorism against the Sikhs continues.
We plead with you Congress man, to please understand and do what is right in the name of the humanity and not get carried away by any short term gains. A tyrant is never any body's friend. Let us not create a black chapter in the history and draw a wedge between our two communities (Nations). We need each other in this time of crisis. At present, we are going through very trying but changing times. India is going through a transition with the radical fundamentalist Hindu majority (BJP) coming into power. That in itself will prove to be the further down fall of that country not to speak of corruption and oppression of the minorities. India will disintegrate soon, and Khalistan will emerge as a power to reckon with. Please help us and not oppose us. Today the whole Sikh World is observant of their friends and foes alike and history will be the witness.
May God Bless you.

Just as long as you dont go and quote things that say Muslims are bad, Sikhs are better than Christians and what not then everything is fine.
@Vanquish, read a few posts above, Masseur has stated his views on this thread.

They should but it seems some muslims are using it as an excuse to get into heven and to cause chaos.
