I've had it happened to me once. I've read some people have had it happen about 5 or 6 times. Not good really. Do PS3's have similar problems i wonder?

Nah I read an article talking about the problems with the Xbox compared to the PS3 and it said that if somebody hasn't had a problem with their Xbox 360, they at least know somebody who has - That's how bad the problems have gotten. Then the article went on to say that the PS3 has had no such problems. Nothing that affected such a huge percentage of the systems they manufactured.

As far as I know though, Microsoft have fixed the worst problems with the new batches of Xboxes. Anyone confirm this?

I had it happen once... And my 360 was about a month out of warrenty...

I ended up buying an Arcade Xbox360 and just swapping my HDD over to the new console. All new 360s come with a 3year warrenty and M$ replace/repair them if you do get the RRoD, normally within 14days too.

And as for PS3s, two of my friends have had problems with the BlueRay drive failing. But both have just returned them to the store they bought them from for a replacement console. I'm not sure how common that fault is... No where near as common as the RRoD i'm guessing.

Yeah to be fair M$ repair centre only took about 1-2 weeks to turn around my repair, and they even gave me a new faceplate for my troubles as the hinge USB door on the front of mine had broken.

The build quality of 360's should really be better though, up to PS3 standards, although as mentioned they seem to have ironed out many of the earlier probs with 360's now.

I think the next game i'll be buying for my 360 is GOW2. Anyone know when it's expected to be released?

All 360s are covered by the 3 year warrenty for rrod not just new ones. Has the 360 been out for 3 years yet?

Still playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2, its brilliant. Looking forward to StreetFighter 4 too. Is it possible to use a non xbox harddrive if I wanted to upgrade? If so, how do I do it?

Nah its not possible. You have to use the Xbox 360 units which are very expensive. Bad move by Microsoft if you ask me (and many other gamers).

December 2nd 2005. Just found out. So all UK Xbox 360's are still covered if you get RRoD.
