Been raining all day, a nice fine drizzle; the lawn is looking better than it has in ages.

@ Jojo,
The fastest I've done here in the UK is 140mph (approx 225km/h) between Grays and Rainham in Essex, where there's no speed cameras.

I very seldom go as fast as that here, due to concerns of being nabbed by a speed camera in maybe an area I don't know so well. Oh, and I don't ride that fast when the better half is with me; she doesn't mind the speed, but I'm still far more 'sensible' then.
In SA, I've gone faster far more often, due to the more open roads, less speed cameras, etc. In the UK, I'm always cautious that if I'm caught speeding, it's a minimum of 3 points off my 12 point driving licence, plus a fine...
When I'm in a familiar area here where there aren't any cameras about, I do tend to 'twist the throttle' a lot more...
I do miss riding superbikes with my friends in SA a helluva lot.

He told me that the Bike (perhaps his') can hit the brink @ - 320 Km/h
I think he might've consumed too much 'tuba' or gin before he told you that, mate. The only way a R1 is going to go above 300 km/h is if he had that engine's >300km/h electronic governor cut-off disabled.
The only way he'll get it to 320km/h is if he puts in high-compression pistons, a gas-flowed head, ignition advancer, racing cams and had the engine blueprinted...or a World Superbike-spec engine.
320km/h is deristricted Suzuki Hayabusa territory, but not R1..

@pop - OK, thanks for the INFO . . . so that MAX for the R1 canNOT hit the 320 km/h mark

Because that's what he told me . . . OR perhaps the MAX a Big Bike can GO

When we are discussing about the speed, he always made mention of the Ducato 1098 model . . . can that hit the 320 km/h SPEED
My OLD classmate is a veteran Big Bike rider pal . . . he was already riding some big bikes when we were in our 3rd year High School - 16 years old

He was always riding his Dad's Honda CB-650 then . .. I manage to ride with him thrice I guess.

@ Jojo, I don't doubt his experience pal, but I will doubt a 320 km/h claim for a road-going R1. If he was talking in general about the fastest road-going bikes out there ie. modified, then yes, I would agree with him.
The Ducati 1098 will struggle to top 300km/h too; it's a very powerful V-twin bike, no question, but it's at an instant disadvantage for top-end speed as it's a V-twin. This is because V-twins cannot rev as high as inline 4 cylinder engines of the same capacity, due to their bigger, heavier pistons. Where V-twins are very strong, as a result of their engine configuration, is their awesome mid-range power and roll-on-throttle performance etc. The World Superbike 1098 will reach that speed though.
