that website has great deals... and fw can be upgraded with USB cable i think
Can anyone confirm this. You can plug the USB cable directly into the phone and into the computer, to do this right?
of course even if this is true, several networks will not allow you to use the Se update service will they like o2 and vodaphone?
but if you can update it via the standard usb cable, then surely it is possible to use these firmwares provided on some websites that people used for debranding before?

Sure you can, if SE support it. On the SEUS site there would be the option to choose which operator your phone was from, and they'd apply the correct firmware.

No, some cables cannot be used to debrand AFAIK, only to update firmware. If you tried to debrand the phone by selecting unbranded firmware, the phone probably wouldnt accept it.

se wont support it if the network refuses to allow it, hence people on o2 and some other networks have never been able to update their k700 firmwares via update service, hence the problem

Just got my K750i today - from what I hear, when you set a wallpaper to be maximised with the Wave theme, the top and bottom of the picture is meant to be slightly faded out - this doesn't happen on mine. Any suggestions?

Its a possibility sure, but what would the networks gain from it ?
For example, concerning these O2 branded phones with software issues. It would be more cost effective for O2 to text their customers to tell them of online updates rather than texting them to tell them to return the phone for a replacement or repair.
Also, the K750i update service will be more advanced than the K700i's. Im sure just like you can select network specific settings from the support / configurators section of the SE site, you'll be able to do the same with the update service. Either that, or it would ask for your IMEI number and would know which firmware to update your phone with.
Theres no reason why SE cannot supply network branded firmware, in fact id say its essential they do.
