Thanks again, but that's an import also. It says "PI date" which means Parallel Imported date.

IMO your best chance is to keep an eye on the Dick Smith website because the do weekly online specials every Wednesday. Currently the Viewty is $399.

I can't see that happening at all. Prices will stay low otherwise demand will dry up. Lower cost of petrol coupled with tax cuts will put more money in peoples pockets and retailers will want a big slice of it. International prices have dropped to stimulate sales: I recieved a pamphlet in the letterbox recently listing very sharp new RRP prices on Sony NZ goods such as Vaio, videocameras and digicams.

Prices are low to attract buyers, not because design manufacturing or material costs are low.

Manufacturers and suppliers cannot continue to hold prices down, especially with the flow on effect from economic recession hitting them hard with their own overheads.

The fact that you can buy a new Ford for $20,000 or less does not mean that Ford Motor Corporation is not in need of a massive bail out package to keep afloat, if you get my drift...

In the end the consumer has to pay for the loans required for the manufacturers to be able to manufacture and sell goods to break even or make a profit there is no avoiding that simple fact.

I also suspect that we may see a turn away from the disposable electronics industry and a return to the service industry
