I did say Series 60 as we know it

Sure, S60 apps will continue to work but we already know that Nokia are heading towards a touch screen interface, which S60 isn't.
So S60 in it's current form is on a limited life also.

I do take on board however that as a developer, your S60 apps now should still work in the future phones, so I'll admit that is an advantage.

Hmmm, I still think it's a gamble on 's part to switch to Series 60 now, knowing your users are going to have to learn a new interface and then another new interface in two years time.

Yeah. Lets just hope that UIQs involvement with Symbian Foundation gives them major role on the interface part. But I believe Nokia is really eying on this iPhone like interface by UIQ:

Everything I'm reading says that Nokia needs a hand with touchscreen generally. I find the interface on Nokia N series phones really awkward after so many years with UIQ.

I know it's difficult to say based on a photo of a non-finished product, but I think I'd be happy with an interface that looked like that (UIQ 4.x or whatever it may have been).

I know it's been many months, but how long has this photo been out?

It was rather a concept UI.
And I would definately not dream on any UIQ4.x, when nobody's sure about 3.3 coming out.

But that will be the interface of Hikaru. As we already know by following this thread, Hikaru will have big screen WITHOUT d-pad or jog-dial. Imagine the pain of navigating this thing if its just standard UIQ3.3 (like using scroll bars in contact list and inbox). Only an iPhone like interface (in the image above) can compensate the lack of d-pad and jog-dial.

That's something you can't be sure.
And on UIQ 3.3 datasheet we see nothing like that above.

A little of topic but

Has anybody noticed how short the list is now on SE-World of upcoming phones
http://www.se-world.info/datenblatt_releasedates.php ?
And everything is filled in, no more rumored phones.
