I really wish I could do something about it, but I can't. I see lots of crime been commited among my own police buddies (especially the management like using police vehicles without permission which amount to theft of petrol and state property). There is not much control anywere - wich is good for me (I did not had a good inspection in over a year now). The problem is - the ones which must inspect know less then the ones to be inspected. To get a job in the police nowadays, is not about what you know but WHO you know and ofcourse, skin color - which plays a major role in any state dep. (especially with promotions - that you mention it). Everything is 'moertoe'. I report on duty and off duty and get my pay, like anyone als As regurarely as posible not to atract to much attention. Did you know, our top cop, Selebi was a manager at SAB before joining the police (not long ago) and immediately gor promoted to General ! ! ! At Bisho (our new head office) cleaners get promoted to Caps and Sups. I am due for promotion for 5-6 years now,but who cares. My only aim is to make aware the world at large about the SAPS's plite. You know, after the elephants sort each other out (Zuma and the lot), they have a bad tendency to trample on the ants (a la Zim). Huh, after the election next year I will join the ANC. Problem solved (At least on my site)

I am loving it, especially using it via wifi at work to go online... usually i download media with it while surfing the web on my lappy... And at home i use it as my main internet connection via virgin (faster than booting the lappy)

So Shaun Pollock announces his retirement today...

Thanks for all that you've done for SA cricket over the past 12 years, Polly.

lol Hobbs, how well i remember the birth of my daughter. I delivered her myself (well, the obstetr. allowed me to pop her out after he'd done the Caesarian, lol). The dude in the next theatre wasn't as fortunate. Somebody must have whacked him over the head as his wife was due to give birth, because i recall that they wheeled him out on a gurney

Mario, my sympathies buddy, i know what you mean... in the educ. dept the same thing happens. Unless you're prepared to hop from school to school the only way to gain promotion is to hang tight where you are. I've been in various acting positions since Moses was a snotkop, patiently waiting for a vacancy bulletin (it's 4 years overdue!) Wrt the arrest you mentioned, i have a very good friend here, one of the senior prosecutors at the local Magistrate's Courts. She's always had the policy of withdrawing such cases from the roll, where the offender is a first-timer, and the circumstances, once she's examined them, point to a crime that's been committed because of hunger, e.g. the loaf of bread scenario. Stealing a box of chocs from Shoprite doesn't constitute the same thing though, nor does nicking a new phone mean you'll get off with a dismissal. She really burst my bubble with that last one, dammit.
