ok, but if i remove the front protector will the phone act like any other smartphone without front protector? or the sony will shatter more easily cause its bezels are glass too? other companies use crystal i guess? so that's why front protector is not a necessity for them? i don't get this part.

amirprog - its the same as other companies. no one uses crystal as far as i know. most flagship smartphones are gorilla glass or dragontrail or unbranded tempered glass. other companies simply don't include it for whatever reason. you are free to remove it if you wish and it'll be like any other company's smartphone screen.

That's not true. Exclusive agreements have time limits. Sony, or any company, would never give one carrier an unlimited exclusive agreement. If it sells well on T-Mobile then AT&T will strike a deal to carry it also, and if they want it before the exclusive agreement ends, then Sony will tweak it slightly so its not the same device anymore. Money talks, and Sony, like all companies, likes money.

What it does mean is that a lot of people will not buy it when it is released and will buy other phones instead. So when/if it becomes available, either unlocked or on AT&T it will be yesterday's news. Its too bad they felt they could get more money out of an exclusive deal with T-Mobile than to do a normal deal and still sell it unlocked.

are you saying that a mobile phone has bass ?

yes I know I'm being very selective from your original post but when I go shopping for a phone "bass" is not a criteria that is going to be in my list - I know what bass is when my living room floor shakes under my feet and my sofa is pounding me in the back - I'm not expecting my Z1 to do that

as for the rest I'm right with you buddy - the Z1 is market leader right now - in fact I'd go as far as saying it's kindof out there on it's own

Of course there are time limits and of course the agreement is for a specific device. But AT&T is never going to pick up the Z1 after a year or even 6 months after the exclusivity agreement lapses. Sony also will not break an exclusivity agreement without cause simply for more money. That would undermine their business reputation and no one will ever want to do business with them again. tweaking the device slightly may or may not work depending on the language of the agreement.

Like I said, it does NOT matter if it is exclusively sold on Tmobile. The same phone can be used on AT&T with no loss of signal compatibility. So, if you are up for an upgrade (i.e., contract expired), simply switch to tmobile, get the phone on a no contract plan and have fun. if you hate it, you can go back to AT&T later while keeping the phone. If your contract still isn't up, I'm sure you'll be able to get your hands on a tmobile Z1 on ebay or amazon through a 3rd party seller at perhaps the same or slightly higher price.

@geoffx i think he just means fuller sound. you can't expect a speaker that small to provide any real bass. but there is a difference between a fuller sound and a hollow one. htc one has 2 stereo speakers which definitely help with this.

Geoff, I think he's referring to the range of audible frequencies. With the HTC one you can really hear the low frequencies (bass), this results in a much fuller sound. The HTC One is also extremely loud.

Of course, if you never use the phone to listen to music, then it won't make any difference to you.

"Bass". It isn't real bass. The lower frequencies are stronger than other smartphones, but that's not really saying much.
Also, those speakers are what resulted in the mahoosive bezels on the One. Its the same size as 5-inch phones, and it packs only a 4.7 inch screen.

@Moogoo

Isn't the phone sold at T-Mobile is SIM Locked? If I end up buying C6906 without contract can I still use that phone on AT&T without issues, just by swapping SIM Card? Also, since the US Store will sell C6902 on their site unlocked, I expect the same story will repeat, and I mean the phone getting launched 2 months later starting from today!

I rather skip all this none sense and just get the C6903 from Handtec, at least it supports T-mobile LTE and 1700 LTE band for AT&T which is available in my city. am honestly fine with HSPA+ speed, LTE would be nice to have but I wouldn't cry over it

Well of course it's not the same kind of bass that you'd typically get in a home sound system! It's far, far better than I've heard on any other phone though. Far better dynamic range.

That said, IF YOU DON'T USE YOUR PHONE FOR MUSIC THEN IT DOESN'T MATTER.
