They better have some clever video compression algorithm ... 4k files could be rather large, but it would be awesome if they can do it!

@moog, its cheaper in bulk than and individual buy for a 64GB card at 40/50$ ... plus like i said thats a max of 80, I need MOARRR.
i feel if im spending that kinda dough regardless that i shouldnt have LESS storage than i currently have, in aforementioned four year old device. i want an upgrade, not a sidestep, and not a downgrade.. $600+ and i have to buy a mem card thats slower overall 180MBps vs 15MBps.. i cannot be the only one that doesnt use the cloud for files and wants to share media without having to transfer files around.
Instead of extra lenscams, we should be upgrading the basics. as it is, they are missing the boat. 1080p screens and they ship phones with 16GB.. how is this sane? thats like 1 BDRip at quality.. ughh. i need to design a device.

Yup compression would definitely have to be clever, since the 16GB wouldn't hold out long and a 32 or 64 microSD would be needed.
1080@60fps is plenty for me.
Personally I am curious how the sound quality will be, I have both the X-series and an E-series from last year with NC and both offer great sound quality. Either I'll grab the MDR-NC13 or MDR-NC100D.

I heard it's going on sale early October with same price point as the Z.

The cleverness is mostlikely spelled h.265. It's still in development as we speak, so any wider spread of 4K applications in consumer products like mobile phones is most likely 1-2 years away I would guess.

Same price point of Z as of now? Meaning a US Z costing $579.99 right now would be the cost of Honami at launch?
Another question, will the C6906 have an unlock version in the US or it's going to be a T-Mobile exclusive like the Z and only the 6902(HSPA+) version being unlocked?

tmob didnt get the z till just a few short weeks ago.. meaning that would be pretty difficult to answer. regardless of if its on tmob or not, sony releases their phones unlocked in certain global regions, just import it. probably only 2 skus, the ones you listed so make sure its the one with compatible bands. i know that the c6306 is compatible with tmob band 4(iv?) lte. chances are the 06 version of this device will cover the same, we will find out more of course on the 3rd/4th.

It varies from country to country, Croatia's T mobile got Z few weeks after launch. Maybe 3 weeks tops.

Nope, checked system dump, it's still H264. Don't expect too huge a quality gain over 1080p though.

I understand you, I'd love to see a phone with 128GB internal storage (plus an additional 128GB micro sd

)
