If the 5.2 inch display can somehow be misconstrued for a 4.5 inch one, then maybe....Unfortunately we live in the real world, so 5.2 inch =/= 4.5 inch.

Here, I have mapped out the possible marketing plan of Sony Mobile:
H1: January -June
H2: June- December
2013 June: Xperia Z Ultra
2013 September: Xperia Z1
2014 January: Xperia Z1 Compact
2014 February: Xperia Z1 Refresh
2014 June: Xperia Z2 Ultra
2014 September Xperia Z2
2015 January: Xperia Z2 Compact
2015 February: Xperia Z2 Refresh and so on…
Explanation: it makes more sense like this since Sony is doing a 6 months time frame between the main Z# and the Z# refresh. The time frame around June is probably where S5 will be announced, therefore, in order to keep the hype going Sony will be announcing the Xperia Z2 Ultra. September will be the announcement of Xperia Z2, 6 months after the Xperia Z1 Refresh. In the following January, Sony will announce the Compact version and in February, 6 months after the Xperia Z2, Sony announces Xperia Z2 Refresh to keep the sales up. In short, Compact and Refresh version of Z# is set in the First Half of the year, where as, the new Z# and Z# ultra is set in the Second Half of the year, going directly against the S# and the iPhone #.
Another way to think of it is that Qualcomm chips. Think of it and keep in mind although the chips were announced few months beforehand, but it wasn’t launched in the phones till later:
S4 -second half of the previous year
S4 Pro - first half of the year
S800 - second half of the previous year
S805 - first half of the year
SXXX -second half of the previous year
Explanation: with this scheme, we can clearly conclude that Sony wants to announce its flagship phone in the second half of each year, this will allow them to get the latest chip. Early, randomuser or someone also mentioned that Sony will no longer announce its flagship devices in the beginning of the year and also ditching the double flagship strategy because it was confusing consumers. No doubt, Samsung and Apple are doing a once a year flagship and still remaining the top. Sony is working hard to fight and differentiate itself from them with its water proof phones. If you check the sales and reports, Sony is actually moving up. Again, this strategy may or may not change in the near future, pretty damn sure Samsung and Apple are feeling the heat from Sony; the dark knight rises!

whatever device this is thats being pictured may have two front facing speakers the led earpiece could be both (speaker earpiece) under the top grill, but equally there is another slot/grill b.w the lower part of the bottom bezel and the frame.
and as far as BOSS sometimes it requires some outside the box thinking:
http://youtu.be/VxSs1kGZQqc im confident it can be done, more confident that it can be done for 3 axis in a 'normal' sized handicam.. but thats too far O/T. still it would require quite a bit of research to apply the lessons learned from a technology like this into a functional BOSS system, and the question remains, would you pay a premium for it. i think the market has answered that question already.
or:
http://www.st.com/web/en/press/p3507
http://www.google.com/patents/US20130077945
im postive sony has a plethora of patents for this already. they are withholding SS, its plain to see, for whatever reason.. maybe its for the coup d'etat with BOSS later on.. (doubtful) still it would be nice to see them taking steps as its such a large marketing point for them and their consumer+ camera lines

@litoni
Agreed. we came to this conclusion earlier though.
another indication for that is the number change. they continued the naming from Z to Z1, and NOT from Z to Z2 for a reason, indicating a number change = a new flagship will be announce only around the same time next year = every IFA. they would never change the number every half a year - it would be completely stupid in terms of marketing and very confusing to consumers. we can all agree on this.

According to the XDA forum, it houses MSM8974AB chipset.
And as well as the pics show G lens and the same X/X.X for sensor size and XX.X MP. Could it be changed?

Will Sony ever dare to give us a business focused device similar to the original (O.G.) Xperia the X1?! I still love that design.
