Well, that's not totally correct.
The Z2 has the top stop on DXO.. so if you go on their website looking for the best cameraphone, you will have to go for the Z2, not the 808. It doesn't matter how they score, the final result is what people look at..

then that's just sad, how can someone make such amazing NEX cameras and professional camcorded and fail so bad here. Unless they didn't let the camera division touching the software side of things at all.
Mobile imaging and dedicated camera imaging are two very different things... on a mobile phone you have very strict size limitations, on a dedicated camera they have way more freedom. For example, the RX100 III is bigger than the previous two versions.

that is true, I am also suspecting that Z1 was probably the also the first time the camera team has to write software for a ARM processor or processor that is completely different from what they are used to before unlike others which have been doing that very early on. IRC someone on XDA said that Bionz only works in 8 MP mode.

Some apps have a bad habit of forgetting that they're running in the background, I don't know is it from the app developer or from the Android way of handling these background apps... thought I'm guessing it's the first in 75% of the cases.. but the ROM plays a major also as it should handle these apps and resources
I have this issue with my S4, in the first days of it the situation is disaster, nothing will stop it even closing all the apps or using task managers, I had to restart every time... after two updates the phone is much better now... some times I see this but closing all the apps solve it in 90% of the cases
one of the solutions I tried is installing a different stock rom, I should use UAE ROM as I live in Bahrain, but I tried it and I tried KSA ROM with no different.. but when I tried the Russian ROM it was much much better, the battery lasted longer also with the heat coming much better.. later updates improves it a lot...
Well, after all it's a Samsung device and they have weird ( and some bad ) habits in their software and devices

I agree.
My default non branded polish ROM has these little bugs.
Like no ability to add Tasks to the Calendar.
Or random memory leak and some small problems with apps running in the background.
As for the battery I confirm one thing:
when I use phone alot after I finish and put it in my pocket, the batt percentage goes down by 2% in the next few minutes.
Probably because it gets hot, but I don't know since I have a book case
BUT the battery is fantastic anyway. 48hrs - that's what I need sometimes!
