' <Sighs> I dare anyone who's actually read (and understood!) the last few pages technical discussions to provide an example of a superior "jack of all trades" handset if they honestly believe the P990 to be dated!
' I'd really love to hear it!

' Handsets focussing on specific (limited) functions will always surpass devices which attempt to be better balanced in those specialised areas... But as yet nothing beats the P990 for powerful versatility.

@ Menageryl -- Great post! I was even starting to doubt the P990 since it has been so long since it was announced. I was worried that something special with a better camera, EDGE, stereo speakers, and nice and thin might come along and make me regret getting the P990. But you have brought back my spirit! I know that a P-Series phone is the only one for me. I just hope it will be a while before the P1000 or whatever comes out so that I can have time to enjoy it. Can't wait!

And thank you to masseur and Jah for answering a question of mine a couple pages back.

And finally, once again, I must ask if any place has started selling screen protectors for the P990 yet or if there is another phone with a compatible screen size. I asked this a couple times now, but I guess no one knew, so maybe someone could help now. I checked Boxwave, SymMobile, Martin Fields, and Brando. Is there anyone else? If the phone is coming out soon (June hopefully), then I will have to protect it. If it got scratched after this incredibly long wait, I would just lose it!

' @chriswg52: Well ta. Only my pleasure to help.

' Honestly, I very much doubt we'll see any handset which definitively surpasses the P990 as general-purpose (PDA-like) platform until the next iteration of the P-Series... The Pxxxx (note the four X's) probably won't take too long to arrive on-scene once the P990 has established itself as a popular hndset and applicationsbecome more available. But that's the way of things, no? I certainly can't possibly hang on long enough to await the P990's successor!!!
' When that happens I'll re-evaluate the situation and make an informed decision... But I doubt I'll need do that or end up fretting over some other manafacturer's handset 'til then - even Nokia, with all it's resources and market-clout, has a tendency to focus on specifc spheres and neglect certain aspects of their devices - the active-RAM discussion from the last few pages being an example...

' So bring on the P990... And we'll deal with the future as necessary!!! <Winks!>

Overall it looks like we are gonna have to wait a little longer than expected. As long as we get a working product at the end of the day thats all that really matters.

At least a confirmation from would help!

I have been watching this thread for an absolute eternity. I work at T-Mobile headquarters in hertfordshire. And I can safely say IT WON'T BE OUT ON T-MOBILE TILL SEPTEMBER, possibly later.

No speculation, no rubbish. 100% true.

As for other networks, August is looking more likely than june. I defy anybody to prove me wrong (acceptable proof would be a Sony Ericsson head office memo).

Sorry to blow your hopes away... But SE R&D are to blame for the delays...

You right, other networks should be in the same boat, more or less

But...the unlocked version should come much before that, and that´s what i want, like many others
