Looks like we have another dud smart pda phone.

as you will see from the video, the X1 is desperately crying for some dedicated video acceleration.

Looks like HTC have messed things up for Sony Ericcson.

X1 does have video acceleration!, VGA video recording is only possible with the help of it. in X1 whitepaper it is clearly stated that the device records VGA30Fps video so it's pretty obvious that it does use it GSMArena opinions were always full of their personal theories...

@ Pop Lover
AFAIK X1 won't support TV/Out.
There isn't anything on the whitepaper about it.
But if I'm wrong and the X1 supports TV/Out then it would be most likely through the 3.5 mm audio jack I think.

WM imate 9502 has tv/out (also a htc device). But ur right whitepaper says nothing about it for X1. Hopefully they will add the spec in the next version of X1.

Hey guys, i m new around here but i have been reading through this entire forum and have gained a lot of knowledge about xperia. I would like to discuss my theory about the lag in the video. There are 2 versions of x1, the american and the international one. What i believe is that the american model does not have the accelerator while the other has it. The american version does not record videos at vga 30fps. I also noticed that the models displayed at gsma had smoother animations than those at ctia. Most probably the recent video had the american model.

you might be onto something. I've also heard reference to two video modes - one that uses acceleration and one that doesn't. The non-accelerated only uses 15fps. I'm not sure where I heard that and can't find the reference. It might even be about another phone.

I thought some reported that X1 can only record VGA @30fps when recording in poor quality 3gpp video format. When the higher quality mp4 format is used, then it can only do VGA @ 15fps.

Found something on the white paper concerning the US version.
It will support MPEG4 @ VGA 30fps, H.263 @ QVGA 24fps and H.264 is not supported.
In the normal version H.264 is supprted @ VGA 15fps.

For a number of reasons I cannot disclose names, BUT I have been told by a very senior guy at Ericsson that make the X1 on the back of an HTC chipset! and I quote "if you think the X1 is cool wait till you see what we are bringing out next year it will totally blow you and the market away!"
He declined to go into more detail, but he was very very excited. Lets wait and see, but knowing this guy and his position I am now also very excited!
