It seems they will go for Android and WinPhone7 rather than Symbian if this article is true:
http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20100722PD210.html I just hope they will not choose WinPhone7 for the Satio successor, I don't like it personally and also what badassman wrote does not sound promising.
In a German article they quoted some analyst data that suggests WinPhone7 will not stand a chance at least at the beginning.

@badassman: Is the 12MP Android you heard about more like the Satio successor (if there is one) or is it more like X10 with 12MP?

They didnt mention

...
edit: or at least this year
Greg Sullivan, senior product manager for Microsoft, told Pocket-lint that we could expect handsets from Dell, Asus, LG, HTC, and Samsung at the launch later this year.

weren't mentioned because they are only offering a single device.
A 12MP Android is something that was mentioned to me once but I have no evidence that it actually exists.
For WP7, it has its drawbacks and the lack of customisation is something people don't like, developers are being limited so they're not happy and it means that the apps may not be great with the flip side that apps are great but very few in number. If you look at older WM, they were slammed to start with but as they matured, people got more into it like WM 6.5 which even I liked but my X1 really struggled with it.
With regards to Symbian, for touch screens its a whack OS but look at the Nokia E series phones which are non-touch, they are fantastic. Maybe if

go down this route with Symbian and look at entering the Blackberry segment which is massive, they could find more joy. Android touch, Symbian non-touch and WP7 for high end business perhaps.
With regards to Walkman phones, I guess we will only get low ends. Everyone these days has some sort of music player. The iPhone is a hate it or love it thing but its the best iPod. Even those who don't have an iPhone will have an iPod. There's always space for a high end Walkman.

Well I agree on limitations regarding START of WP7.
And I know SE likes to customize devices.
However it can do miles more than Android or iOS could at start.
Real life will tell, but I think it will develop through time. I also think Google will
make WP7 app.....
As for developers, remember how iPhone is restricted yet look at the number of apps in the app store.
There are also signs of things to come with WP7 upgrades.
I think Microsoft designs something with power and future.
Symbian looks already old.
Funny, but WM 6.5.3 on my X2 looks 5 years younger than Symbian 3.
Also remember - WP7 will bring a very powerful hardware out of the box.
People who touched it live say it's impressive....
I think those makers quoted above are launch partners.
SE will join later.

It's very sad to see the lack of responsiveness of this company. They should have hired more android developers to update their android experience. Initially UXP was a great idea but waiting 6 months to get the 2.1 upgrade and not the froyo one sounds like a joke. Motorolad droid 2 will be released in August with 2.2... Two years ago we were a lot of

aficionados at esato (I remember that this thread had more that 950pages on the same date

). Innovate or die!

As a walkman phone fan, I agree, there's always space for it. But

is not seeing its potential, which makes me sad, because honestly, imo, walkman with android can beat the iphone. as long as they have the right essentials (8mp cam with led flash or photolight, 3.5mm jack at least 3.2 inches screen, full touch, variety of colors)
i dont have an ipod, but i have sony walkman x-series. beats the hell out of the ipod. the good thing about ipod is the application thing. you get massive apps and games.

Amen. I couldn't have put it better myself. Add to that a high quality alloy housing and a set of super high quality earphones and I'm sold.

Beats the hell out of near anything music quality wise, but fails dramatically in the software department. I have one too and love it to bits, but it really is no iPod Touch rival. Apps are what sell phones really.
