you need to have a permanent address if you're going for postpaid else you'll have to shell out Rs 2000.

oh yeah thats tru, u need to show em address proof. actually even for prepaid u need that (they asked my friend for that here!!!!!).
they need ur birthcert, passport, drivers license, sslc mark sheet, police clearance etc etc. hehehehee

@raj, hey watch it, dont even get me started bout chennai. i hate that nasty place. lets start with the 45degree weather, then there is the salt water or no water problem. next comes the ppl who walk around with turmeric on their face thinkin that will make them white
then ther r the crazy autoricks and blind 2 wheeler ppl and so on.
if u can avoid this city pls by all means do it, i'm not kiddin this place stinks (ever heard of the koovam???, its the smelliest, nastiest river (or waterever u call it) in the whole world accordin to a study conducted by some mag)

I had no major problems in Chennai :-/

In fact, the toughest place I ever lived in was Bhopal, with Coimbatore and Cochin coming second. More comfortable in Chennai IMO.
