as has been said a couple of times in this thread, there is NO qualification (unless they have changed it somehow in the last month). You simply buy from the student site rather than the normal site
Many of us have done so perfectly successfuly and there is no "prove you are a student" type questions to answer
go for it!

last time i ordered using the student link, there was no need to provide any sort of proof that you are a student-good job too, my student days ended quite a while ago lol

Do you need to pay witha card of a student or something? if not, why would they call it o2 student?

nope, just pay with a standard visa card etc, dont think they ever cottoned onto the fact that loads of us would use the student section to order

nope. I pay with my own American Express.
I have no idea why they call it "student" when, in fact, everyone can buy from there but my guess is that O2 advertise in student type mags and uni places (whatever they may be) and direct people to that site so they save £20

yeah I noticed that a short time ago
...and even the one I ordered a couple of days ago for my wife I have now been told will not be actually available until the end of the month
