So it was unlocked when you unbranded? Did you take out your simcard when you unbranded?

Thank you for this! I've been looking for it! I was just wondering though, if this firmware had an English language option (like the Singapore firmware)? Or at least, is it possible to install a language pack onto the R6 firmware that will translate the interface into English?

kcassidy, you said you took it back to your dealer who originally unlocked it for you? So it was locked before?
I'm still fairly hesitant to try this trick... I wonder if it could have something even to do with hardware revisions? I'm in Canada and this phone isn't even here officially, so I'm not sure as to how I'd go about getting the phone serviced if the worst happened...
My phone is already factory unlocked and unbranded (came new as a World Generic 2)... all I really wanted to do was get a little Chinese support.

Hi, yeah when i got the phone it was locked, i then got it unlocked, did this and it locked, so i got it unlocked again. If i was you, i would do the kulankendi way as its only about £6 and im pretty sure will not mess up your phone.
thanks

Alright, so despite everyone's bad experiences, I decided to give it a shot. And by following the instructions at the site phonekoto posted, I can let out a sigh of relief and say everything went smoothly.
Anyone else who may be looking to do this, I strongly recommend that you follow the guide that phonekoto linked to (a few posts up). This takes out the guess-work of which 3xx and 4xx byte files to replace. The author gives you the first 12 and 11 bytes of each file in hex so that you can know with more confidence which files to replace.
But as always, proceed with extreme caution...

I used these files for my P990i, so I don't think they're for an M600i... at least, I wouldn't try unless you had an easily accessible way to fix your M600i if something went wrong?
I can't confirm whether or not you can use the same files for both the P990i and the M600i.
If you want Chinese support, perhaps you could try the Generic China or the Singapore CDA files for the M600i here:
