Heres what happened: went to my local CPW to pick up my
pre-ordered S3 to find they had cancelled my preorder. NICE ONE CPW !!!
So how did this happen ? well it turns out the contract i wanted with the network
3 had been cancelled by CPW, even though its on their website right now - the 3 All-in-One plan. Had lots of apologies from CPW staff and was told they had attempted to call me several times to tell me my preorder was cancelled.
They also said i could still have one but would have to wait until next week when more arrive. I would also lose my preorder gifts - the car charger, screen shield, 16gb memory card etc.
To which i told them where to get off and was out of there angry.
So off i went to the 3 store, just upstairs above CPW in the mall i was in. In i went and got the phone i wanted on the plan i wanted without having to wait. Within 10 minutes i was out of there with my Galaxy S3.
CPW who i usually say are very good have completely screwed up here. They told me to call their complaints, but to be honest i wouldnt want to spend £10 calling a premium support number to get nothing in return.
===Anyway===
First thoughts of my S3 -
awesome ! definitely the phone ive been waiting for to replace my Symbian phones.
Loves:
- screen - best screen ive seen on a mobile phone ever. Very bright, vibrant and super sensitive to touch
- construction - brilliant build quality, no creaks or squeaks, rear cover fits super tight. Samsungs build quality has definitely gone up a notch or ten.
- OS - brilliant ! touchwhiz is very minimal and only enhances the stock android look.
- speaker - very loud and high quality !
to be honest there too much to love compared to Symbian.
The only thing i dont like is the lack of a camera shutter button and the fact its locked to 3 with 3 branding on the start up screen. But then, i can alter that easily eventually.

I seen it in a Three store today too. As I said it never wowed me as expected. Screen on HTC X looks better

Your opinion, but mine is this:
Super amoled is var more vivid than even the best LCD screen which makes the S3 screen much better imo. The problem with the S3 imo is the light sensor darkens and dulls the screen too much unless you're in a really bright area. Possibly something Sammy need to fix.
Now i love the One X, but its screen is really dull in comparison, which has been proven by sites like GSM Arena and Techradar etc, which have done tests on both phones screens. The S3 wins all of them, or almost all.

I hated Super AMOLED on GS2. Yes colours are over saturated and perhaps unrealistic. But I found whites were with a nasty blue ish tint

Again opinion, but that appears not to be the case with the S3, as mentioned by those tests on the sites mentioned.

Yeah just a little disappointed with the 3 branding.
I assume its relatively easy to wipe if i root and install a custom rom ?
something i'll probably do months down the line.

Samsung Androids are probably the easiest phones to mod/debrand.
All you need is Odin on your PC and an unbranded Samsung ROM e.g. the UK one in your case, no need to root.
