As far as I know Sony will not honor the warranty if you buy from a non authorized Sony dealer. I had a problem with mu Xperia S and Sony would not cover it under warranty because I did not purchase it from an authorized dealer.

Oh...I thought their warranty covers as long you bought it from the country it was from. Because when I had my Xperia T with the peeling issue, I called sony and they said they could not cover it just because I bought it from UK.

In the US as long as the phone is within a year of manufacture, or you have the proof of purchase with the date, they will honor the warranty.
