But it's not clear if the V or VI will be the last.

I think the 3 series will replace the 5 series.

So instead of making 5 series better, it is easier for sony to change name? 😅

It could be that Zack got tipped off by someone who has seen or heard there is such prototype. I am also certain that Xperia people play with different size housing all the time and even with different screens as well, so usable test prototype devices most likely do exist. But that doesn't mean it will enter the production.

Remember when 5K display was spotted back in the day? Sure, most likely they had a working display with "true" 21:9 4K that translated to 5K because of 2160p height. But it never saw light of the day.

I dont' see them downgrading the resolution of the 1 display unless they go full on penny saving mode, so all three models have exact same garbage display like 10/5 have now.

No mobile SoC supports 5040x2160p. I wonder where that rumor came from.

I believe they test screens from different suppliers, but different ratios dont make sense after using same for many years while keeping using same 21:9.

Or maybe 3 means 3 devices like Z5 series.
There was rumor of that back in 2021/22.

1v is 16.5 x 7.1 cm ..
5v is 15.4 x 6.8 cm...

If you reduce screen to 5.7 because gap between 1 and 5 is 0.4", then you can have device about 14.3 x 6,5 cm. They would surely advertise as compact.

Sony is repeating their history. First they make a phone that has potential (z, 1) they improve on it the following year and get praise, and kinda get popular (Z2, 1ii) and then they release the same phone for years to come with minor improvements. Then they change things and make a new series. All the while not fixing issues like late and limited release, bad after sales, short sw support, trash midrange, no dumb-proof default camera mode etc.

Yeah they were different with tall aspect ratio and 4k but who actually bought the phone for these. Wider display is better for what they are trying to do, it is a camera first type of device. Quality, and brightness matters more and it is probably cheaper because it's not that custom made.

They can make phone wider, just put the micro matrix and increase screen 0.2-0.4". Tech has been there more than 30 months. This way 1 would be like 7.3-7.5cm .. Far easier to use pro apps.

The thing with this tall aspect ratio is that every .1 inch increase in diagonal is only 1mm increase in width.

And micromatrix could have existed but that doesn't mean it delivers good enough quality for today's standards

Then SSS would not mass production if it was that bad. I highly doubt it is any crap as UDC.

Dont forget SSS has most advanced tech of image among all suppliers.

10 and 5 with 71mm , while 1 with 73mm would be great.

If case render leaks are legit then 5 VI still has 21:9 ratio screen but the overall height of the device has scaled down by 5mm.

that case does not have cam button cutout. I bet sony is also removing 54mm from 10 series to use 2x digital zoom as well. Dont be surprised if this happens. 😡

I can confirm that there will be no 4K and 21:9 aspect ratio every products in the first half of 2024. Atleast there is no punch hole Xperia 5 lineage is gone.
They are focusing more on AI and "midrange" consumer type. If you want flagship best of industry specs then run away while you can because its gonna hurts a lot
