Are you sure that you took your phone to an AUTHORIZED SE SERVICE POINT? Ask them for their certificate from Sony Ericsson.
What you have described is the result of using other tools to hack firmware onto your phone incorrectly. There are incorrect crossreferences in your phone, because the firmware files do not match up.
Sony Ericsson's upgrade tools would not leave your phone in that state. This should be easily fixed at a real Sony Ericsson Service Point.

A word of advice!
I jz upgraded my T610 from R3C to R4C and had a bad experience. After leaving the SE Center, I tested the camera and it worked fine. Until I took a pic and it hanged there. Waited for 5 mins and nothing happened. As usual took out the battery to reset the hard way.
Things got worse, as I found out my bluetooth, infrared and wap all stopped working. That is they cannot be activated. I called SE up again and asked me to send in my phone again with the excuse that the flash was probably not done correctly!
Anyone had an experience like mine and care to share?

Java games may be deleted when the customizations are changed. Usually the customization's are not touched when performing a firmware upgrade on an unsubsidized phone.

Hi, I have a T-Mobile branded T610 (AP set in this corner of the world), and it currently has the R1L013 China 1 firmware. I want to upgrade it to R4C003, and I have a few questions:
1. I was told that I might potentially kill the phone if I flash a T-Mobile phone with non T-Mobile firmware. Is it true? If it is, any way to revive the phone once I kill it?
2. A phone shop told me that T-Mobile phones can be upgraded to firmware LG4003. I thought it was a mistake, as I've never heard of this firmware (and there are no info on it online). But the shop insisted that it's LG4003 and not R4C003. Anyone else heard of this firmware or has it?

upgrading the firmware will not ruin your phone in any way. all T610's are the same after all, and changing the software will not hurt it.
about hte different firmware versions, the one they';re talking about is probably the t-mobile branded one. i'm not excatly sure what t-mobile do, but vodafone's firmware changes all the icons to nasty 3 colour ones and changes the right softkey in standby to a link to the internet.
