exactly - I would never go to 3. Only using their "offer" so O2 would give me a better one. That's why I was getting annoyed when O2 actually gave me my PAC code, as I had no intention of leaving. Got to drive a hard bargain, as their standard tariffs are a rip-off!

Btw compared to others my offer wasn't great. A lot of people got 500 mins, 500 texts for £15. Don't know how they managed it, especially it seems with little persuasion. When I called O2 they were quite stubborn, and didn't seem willing to offer be this great deal.

What tarrif was you previously on? Maybe cos your monthly usage was low so they were relunctant to give you a better offer?

Last year I was on O2 leisure time all - this is normally £25/month for 500 Xnet off-peak mins and 100 texts (double for first 6 months). However I got £15 off/month, so paid £10/month.

Therefore my average spending was about £12 - so maybe that's why they weren't doing everything to keep me as a customer. But I heard on another forum that they always offer more texts on the online tariffs, so maybe it's only possible to get the 500 texts if you are on an online tariff.

I wanted to upgrade from high street tariff to an online tariff, but it wasn't possible apparently.

I have just completed what I would like to call phase 1 of obtaining the best O2 online deal.

I spoke to one of their reps explaining bad service experience throughout the year and reasons why I was considering another network - k700i text msg issues with O2 network, being charged for text and gprs when still withing allowance, a customer for two years, spend up to £40 some months, online billing down and the usual had a call from 3 network who offered a very competitive tariff.

I was offered loads of phones free (inc K750i - but currently out of stock) with 750 Xnetwork mins with 300 txts for £34 for 12 months.

I said I would think it over but in the meantime wanted my PAC code, to avoid another call at national rate, should I decide to leave.

I'm gonna leave it a week and see if they call and chase up their offer or suggest an alternative. In the meantime I'm gonna try other networks for similar deals, matching or beating O2's offer, that way if they do call I'm prepared with more ammo!!

I have until 14th Sep for my contract to expire so feel free to offer any suggestions or just simply watch this space........I'll let you know how it goes.

On the phone today I was told it could be next week but O2 were hesitant to confirm or commit.

Btw to avoid national call rates try either the 0800 number, or dial 100 from your phone. This is free and I think upgrades is option 2. I also use the 100 number for billing enquiries.

Thanks for the advice but what is the 0800 number?

I did try the 100 but it recognised I was an online customer and asked me to redial using 0870.........

cheers

O2 didn't call me back, so decided to ring and say i was cancelling. I said 3 offered me 500 xnet mins and 500 txts for £20/month (i know i could have said 15, but I didn't want to push it). He came back saying I could have the same but with 200 txts because i never use all of the 100 I am receiving now (which i thought about and had to agree with).

I then asked for a W800i with it. He repeatedly tried to blag me off with a K700i instead, saying they were practically the same. So I said i'd rather not downgrade from my S700i. He eventually accepted, but with an upgrade fee of £50. Edit: got to wait til mid sept. for stock on the W800i

Summary: 500xnet mins, 200 txts, £20 month
W800i, £50

Sure beats my 100 mins and txts for £25. Thanks guys.
