^ Ok that's good, I agree that we agree

(my money is on Honami, just for the sake of the discussion )

Am I the only one that has been waiting for Xperia phone with display size above 4.5", rounded soft-touch back with 2MP front camera on top front (not bottom front) ? It seems like this phone will not exist in 2013, and even the supposed rumoured first Xperia in 2014, the Ray 3 will not have the 'specs' that I'm waiting for too.

Right now all the soft-touch back 2013 Xperias have VGA front camera, except the ZL which have it at the bottom.

Hope to read one day about the rumours that I'm wishing for

Sounds like the Xperia T is the phone for you.

it will be fun to watch all the comps once they are both out... I think I said earlier that the sony might be on par during the day, but we will have to wait and see. And to be honest.. even then I don't trust any of them. Just look at all the 1020 vs 808 comps... most of them don't know what they are doing.

The caption on the benchmark is wrong, higher scores are better in AnTuTu.

In theory, at equivalent tech, larger pixel size means more light per pixel, so better signal to noise ratio and performance, in particular noticeable at high iso. This is also what i was convinced of.

The thing is, after trying many camera recently, the sony rx 100, that has a much smaller sensor than four thirds or aps-c cameras, and a higher pixel count than many of them, clearly showed me that sony's sensor tech can make small pixels/sensors be a match for bigger brothers.

I think (did not do the math) that there is less difference between honami and 1020 pixel size than between rx-100 and some apsc and 4/3.

My point is not that honami will crush 1020, i do not know, but depending on sony sensor tech superiority, it could.
Not that i care if it does not, there is no Nokia in Japan, i cannot buy 1020, even if Balmer paid me.

All we can do is wait and see!

Xperia T is 1.3MP, not 2MP.

Don't bother me, I'll wait for one.

i think it's funny how cu01 always jumps in to defend nokia, even though no one is asserting honami is better, just that it would be an embarrassment for nokia IF, honami ends up producing better photos than 1020, WHICH cannot be really determined without final units and proper photo testing procedures as used on dpreview. (yes i said that all in one breath)

I am not defending them.. my posts usually come from a pure technical perspective, if Sony were using the bigger sensors instead of Nokia, I would say the same thing in reverse.

Also, I am not really a fan of the 1020.. I see as a compromised 808 because of the smaller sensor.

But honestly, I am disappointed that Sony decided to cater to the masses and didn't produce a proper camera phone.. I was really hoping for one that is also water proof. I guess we will have to wait for that to come from either Sony or Nokia. I really wanted the z1 to use a huge sensor with fat pixels...

And full disclosure, yes... I am member of this forum because I really liked Ericsson as a company, not Sony. I have nothing against Sony.. just saying.

And finally, yes.. I do love my 808 because its simply an awesome smartphone.

@cu015170:

Just to clarify, I was just saying that Honami will be better than GS4 Zoom.

GS4 Zoom looks really crappy even compared to the normal S4:
http://www.gsmarena.com/piccm[....]25&idPhone2=5447&idPhone3=4577
There's no 1020 in that list, but clearly the 808 destroys them both.

Old sony cybershot cameras with old sensors (18MP) and the mighty 808 also destroy the GS4 Zoom (16MP):
dpreview comparison

Therefore my educated guess is that Honami also will destroy the GS4 Zoom.

Honami vs 1020?
That definitely will be an interesting fight, we shall see

Ya, I was just addressing your mention of pixel sizes.. The GS4 zoom is a waste of plastic if you ask me... there is plenty of room for a much bigger sensor. I also think that the Z1 will outperform it in daylight conditions, but the xenon on the Gs4 zoom is rather powerful..so it will probably do better at night.

As far as the 1020 vs. Z1.. ya.. my money is on the 1020 simply because of the sensor sizes.

Agreed CU, I was disappointed Sony did not put a big sensor in there.
