Hello people nice forum and subject,
sony know how to design phones, i think the z is the most beautiful phone i've seen... thuogh i'm waiting for something else from sony,
anyone know or heard if sony plans to make mid size highend flagship phablet like about the size of the note 2 or a bit bigger? i'm hooked on phablets! but i'm afraid the ultra won't fit my jeans pocket and i don't like that sony cuts corners on the ultra - like not implementing led flash and the camera needs to be better, not implementing 2 speakers for that beautiful 6.4 moster screen (being a phablet is not an excuse for these sins these days imo ) i do see myself waiting till the "z ultra 2" strange as it may sound or whatever its name will be - my iphone 3gs is still alive, and i like sony, etc, but you don't throw what is still working... tough life!

I'm happy and interested to see the new Vaio laptop/tablet. I really love Vaios and have been using about 8 different Vaios. My latest Vaio is Vaio Duo 11 and I really enjoy it. It is the best laptop/tablet I've owned.

Looking forward for the next Vaio lineup....

Hi, kinda different question/thoughts.

Are there any news/rumors about Sony making a WP8 phone?
With GDR2 and 3 early next year the OS would really mature enough to give it a thought by Sony.

Also question on Sony Xperia line up structure. I think it might be interesting to see the VAIO and Xperia brands nicely complement each other. (Xperia link being just a first very light solution). Also as the boundries between mobile products are vanisihing - laptop become tablets or vice versa, then having also some versatile/convertible solutions.

Wonder if Xperia will streamline their models to product lines like VAIO did with Pro, Duo and Fit lines.
That can bring some nice and clear communication platform for marketing.
And that also relates to my WP8 question as I can imagine a solution for business/governement offering a Pro line devices - e.g. Pro line notebooks with Pro line Xperia phones with WP8 for security and enterprise standards support.
Something BB has dominated, but now is falling to keep up and iPhone simply isn't compatible enough to take over...

Any thoughts.. thanks

Sony IS considering making WP based smartphone (with S800 chipset) but a final decision has not been made.

Is it the Z Ultrra or the Honami?
And also, is it me, or does the I/O button seem to stick out from the side? like there's an edge and then space between the frame and the edge of the button?? Obviously it would be impossible to be like this on the Z1 given how much sony like design:)
Anyway I'm so loving the new metal frame, instead of the plasticky XZ it's so solid and beautiful!

EDIT: after checking a lot of photos this is not Z Ultra... the button as some of you said is bigger on th ZU, and also its space is carved inside the frame, whereas this is "attached" on the frame...
I prefer this way of putting it because it gives more continuity
(PS I really love this metal power button! so 90's)

neither of the pictures in the previous page are of the Z Ultra, the power button on the ultra is almost the size of the edge of the phone - that phone is much thicker than the Ultra and the Z

The second picture the device is too small to be the Ultra and is at an angle - it also doesn't fill the full hand if you look carefully enough or else that is an extremely large hand, it also has rounded edges which means it's not the XZ either I'd say most likely the Z1

@Geoffxx
The pic with the hand is Z Ultra. Proof from Sony's official press resources albums.

Is anyone here going to go to the Beijing event. I'd like to try and go and represent the esato forum so long as no-one else is going under the same guise.
