AARRGGHH!!!!
Does anyone know why I cant use a wireless mouse on my Vista laptop? A few weeks back I bought one from Woolworths, it said it was Vista compatible, when i moved the mouse the light on the dongle flashed so I know the dongle was picking up the movement but the pointer on-screen wouldnt move. I returned it and bought another one from a pc store today, smae problem though. The salesman assured me it was vista compatible, my laptop searched on update for a driver but couldnt find anything. The mouse manufacturer hasnt got a website (that I can find), so does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Vista should recognise it as a human interface device and it should work without needing extra drivers. Sounds like your Vista is playing up.

On the login screen there should be a small icon at the bottom, either left or right, it's the only other icon other than names and shutdown.
Click that and it should give you accessibility options, or something of that nature.
There should be an option to shut the narrator up.
et voila.

@jc_white it actually recognised it 1st as that then it actually came up as "wireless mouse" and "successfully installed" but still nothing. Dont really matter now, its goin back tommorrow and im giving up. Think I will just make do with the wire, its just far too long!
@arien, I wish that would work! With me its the magnifier, I was messing about once and turned on the narrator and magnifier, the narrator turned itself off, but cannot turn off the magnifier for the life of me. No matter what I try it just tells me to **** off!!!

It's a bit of a bugger, that one...
I had to get rid of it on my mates laptop by doing a manual uninstall; that is running the (largely fake) uninstall application in 'add/remove programs', then manually searching the hard drive and registry for any references to it and deleting them.
It also sometimes changes the screensaver and / or wallpaper to a fake BSOD if I remember correctly, so after removing it, you may need to apply a registry fix (post back here or PM me) and then change those back too.
There's a big list of steps to get rid of it really, and I bet somebody else has already written a guide by now. Have you done a google for "antivirusxp 2008 removal" or similar?
