I don't think releasing 1 flagship per year is the factor that made Samsung successful, I'm pretty sure because they indeed released a great phone with the latest specs and TONS of marketing, just like what Apple did, I would say marketing played a big role.
1 flagship per year builds more hype, but that is only hype, it needs to fulfill peoples expectations to be able to sell. It might even flop if it is overhyped. (which I hope does not happen to Honami)
1 flagship per year does not mean more time to develop and research it, afaik each product has a development cycle, meaning this honami was not made within six months, it could have been made by a completely different team than the ones who made Z, so in the end they all might still have taken 1 year or much more to develop. If you have a lot of manpower that is capable of developing two phones it would be inefficient to direct them to work on a single device only.
