Do you think that is the reason why my P990i is more stable after the upgrade by the Service Centre? Deleting all the files and starting afresh does sound better than updating the firmware only.

it could be if there was some file that was damaged or corrupted that SEUS did not touch.

If that is the case, wouldn't it be better for SEUS to remove everything just like what they are doing in the Service Centre? I don't think anyone would mind since we can always backup our data. But then again, I find that my backup if not very reliable. I have encountered a few times whereby not all my SMS are backup, haven't got the time to find out way

I just update my phone via SEUS but i reinstall everthing on the computer and flash it again with the same firmware(continue anyway) and my phone works great now no more self-restart. Why do you think they have an option to continue anyway if they did not update some of the firmware that is the same(R3B01)??

Isn't this interesting?! Another case of performance improvement after a reflash with the same version of firmware... What is the reason? Is it due to a re-initialize phone with fresh settings or are they changes made to the firmware?

as i said earlier the se service centers advise you to get your phone flashed by them.. they dont use seus but emma.. its deletes everything on your phone so every corrupted file gets deleted.. when the new fw is out i'll definately let service centre flash my phone..

Hi,
Long time reader and finally my first post
May I ask experts here best practices when updating to new firmware.
Sorry, I'm confused.
Steps:
1. Backup (extra= Sync Outlook + Backup contacts/task/calendar to card)
2. Master Reset or Format Internal Disk ?
4. Update firmware thru SEUS
5. Restore or ... ?
6.
Question:
What's the difference between master reset and format internal disk?
P990i
R3B01

the option to "re-flash anyway" is so that, any errors that might have occured during a previous firmware update can be corrected.
The purpose of version numbers is to show that there are some changes!
