As for the signal, thats not too bad... not a lot you can do now though. Warranty is screwed

So did you drop it down the loo? Hope you'd flushed beforehand!

That just begs for an iphone gag Ryan, but i shall resist
Glad its still working at least!

lol ....no i stupidly dropped it in a bowl of water, only the bottom bit was submerged up until about half the height, will that register as water damage?

Ya know, you might be lucky there mate cos ive heard the little piece of paper that determines that the phone has been submerged in water is inside at the top near the headphone port.

@MWEB Go on. I know you want to!

i cant even get it changed under warranty unless something stops wroking, cus right now it seems fine apart from the 'weaker signal' that may or not be all in my head

You may encounter charging problems, so that might be a saving grace! The dock port is a sensitive little bugger

Fingers crossed O2 will let peeps upgrade to the new iPhone when it's released, like the 2G-3G transition. I have a sneaky feeling they wont be so accommodating this time round though

Hm now you say that, O2 did announce/release last week the 24 month iPhone contracts, meaning you could get the current 3G for free on a £34pm contract. So similar contract deals will probably be put in to place for the new one.

It is in their interests for them to keep their iPhone user base though - it makes up a massive amount of web browsing market share, and to let people upgrade again ensures they stay and resigning a 24 month contract is a win win situation for them.

Afterall, this year there's gonna be hotter competition for the iPhone

yeah i think the target market for the new iphone are all phone users anyway so they will have to let us upgrade or they wont sell much:D
but i dont think i want to be tied down for 2 years

Very true, and it shows up another little weakness in the design - ordinarily the non-removeable battery doesn't bother me, I can see why they did it, but if you drop a phone (or other gadget) in water the first and best thing to do is whip the back off and yank the battery out. Not much chance of that with the iPhone. Even if you turn the phone off, the battery could still be shorting out in there.

Right my iPhone has developed a crack in the plastic by the headphone port, quite a sizeable one roughly 1cm. I can't remember who it was that found cracks on theirs a little while ago, but would I have grounds to have this replaced at the O2 shop? Btw I've been using it in a case since day 1
