re: datacable. Mine is DRS-10 lang... but i haven't used it for dialup. I just use it for sync and back-up.

there are some flaws on ericssons repairable on upgrades. if it was a software problem, most probably Smartnet will first try an upgrade (if ever the phone isnt on R2D..if it is a T68m). if the upgrade didnt fix the flaw, then most probably Smartnet will give you a replacement phone.

i believe that the phone's port is to be accessed by one application at a time.
if it being used by a dial-up connection for example, then it couldnt be used by phonebook/text message manager.
