Hi all,

Well i just stumbled across this very interesting post over @BGR which claims that there are some even better and greater BB devices on the Horizon. One is claimed will have a 5 megapixel AF camera and near HD quality screen and there are already Storm 2 & 3 in the works. You can get better details here

http://www.boygeniusreport.co[....]rks-storm-2-and-3-coming-soon/

I had a feeling late 2008 and 2009 where going to be a really big year for Rim and it looks like i may be right on the money. As it looks like they will have a real iPhone beater that will not only satisfy there usual Business users but appeal to a much wider audience. Personally i think we will see Rim in the No2 spot for smart phones and drawing further ahead of WM, Apple and Google and maybe even closing the gap to Nokia looks like 2009 will be far more interesting than 2008 has been for us gadget lovers.

RIM is a number two player already Dogmann. It overtook Windows around Q2 this year.

Hi EMO6,

I am quite aware of that sorry if you misunderstood or my post wasn't clear as i said

"Personally i think we will see Rim in the No2 spot for smart phones and drawing further ahead of WM, Apple and Google and maybe even closing the gap to Nokia looks like 2009 will be far more interesting than 2008 has been for us gadget lovers."

Not that they would get to the 2nd spot as they are already there but pull closer to Nokia and away from their rivals who people are happily talking up but have a lot to do IMO. Seriously the Bold is my first BB and whilst not perfect as what is? it's really impressed me. They really have addressed their previous weakness and are a serious force to be contended with. I seriously doubt that even when WM7 arrives Q3 2009 it will rival what Rim have to offer. Also by the sound of what Rim are working on and have in store for us Apple better make the iPhone 2 3G really special. As there offerings don't look they will be skimping on any features.

Okay, I see.

Well, looking at those figures it is clear that they (RIM) are eating into Nokia's share. They dropped Nokia from 64% to 57 which is quite a chunk if you ask me.

Good for us the end users that there's so much competition.

you dont spend ages trying to select the right thing when you scroll past it by accident with the BB.

You either have clumsy thumbs or need to turn down the trackball sensitivity!

Lol, prolly both, but even then, it doesn't have the definete 'click' that buttons, or even a joystick has, meaning if I'm walking along the high street, trying to scroll somewhere, I don't have any precision, no matter what sensitivity the scroll wheels on.

It's a lovely device, and does what it does well when it's working, but I prefer something that's going to just work really well all of the time, something that I can pull out of my pocket, unlock and go, zip bang just like that lol

Plus the camera-slide cover is sooooo handy on my K750i lol

You get the BES Service Data Plan from your provider - NOT the BES Server. Just to clarify and not cause confusion with the wording here - but I know what you intended to say.

Yes, sorry didnt explain very well. You can get the software for BES free from your service provider providing you take out a large enough business contract with BES enabled accounts on it. You need to provide server hardware with a connection to your exchange server (or Lotus Notes or Novell Groupwise).
I am personally a BES admin at work and BES servers have quite a few more functions than BIS provides.
