Because the 2016 thread is still "sticky" while this 2017 thread is not

I think we might need a moderator that is a little bit free to do those sorts of basic things

Had a play with the Jolla UI on Xperia this weekend. Not really worth the money but there are some nice ideas and elements to it. It is visually very appealing, nice clean menus and I think Sony should use some of the ideas to make Android more attractive. It reminds me of the PS3 interface in some ways which I loved personally.

Also had the iPhone 8 Plus for a day. People may say its very similar to the 7 but you see the improvement particularly in the camera. I'm not going to bash Sony but I'll say that the experience is very fluid and easy to get nice sharp images. The 4K 60 frames is also very nice. For a lot of people its about fast snap and upload onto social media and iPhone is king for that. For some people you don't have the time to mess about in manual mode or the moment is lost. I will say though that performance-wise the XZ1 Compact is as fast and probably the fastest device I've used, even faster than the Note 8 in my hands which is some achievement.

Some of former Nokia camera team at Apple, delivered leap improvement year in year out

and now Pixel camera team going to make formal challenge, let's see what will happen next

Badassmam, I don't think we can't utmost blame Sony here for camera department failure,

they try hardest to steering business back to positive flow, it is heavy task these days even few can make profit,

making improvement on their own investment without Google's guidance (API) is barely impossible to do so.

Like we used to say here couple years, Sony need to soup up their own Image Signal Processing (with or without BIONZ marketing scheme) and re-engineer their software to make formal challenge again, only good hardware is no longer to be key advantage much like old day that they used to bragged before.

^ I hear you but you misunderstood what I said. If low light performance is poor then that is alright because we know that is the case and perhaps they're not smart enough to deal with it. I would still buy it because poor camera performance compared to other flagships doesn't make it a rubbish camera because they are indeed good but just not as good the other flagships. My issue is with the distortion being so bad because it scares me to buy from them if Sony tell you to expect that.

I know people working at Sony, they deserve massive credit for keeping the mobile division alive and still producing great devices. They could have easily not made the XZ Premium and concentrated on selling billions of cheap phones in developing countries as an alternative strategy. Regardless of reviews, my next device will be from Sony.
