Actually, as I have checked from GSM Association home page, there are lots of GSM operators in US nowadays. Though, only Cingular (with former AT&T) and T-Mobile are the biggest.

But one new GSM company is spreading its coverage quite fast: Alltel Communications Inc (recently named as Western Wireless Corporation). It is covering mainly the central part of the USA:
