Here's a question:

Wireless charging, yay or nay? (anyone)

NO... no wireless charging...
But fortunately there's the magnetic port...
http://www.sonymobile.com/it/[....]s/magnetic-charging-dock-dk30/
if you buy this it will be bundled with a magnetic cable charger too
Maybe Sony will decide to put the magnetic cable in the box too... that would be neat

Damn that cable is short... please say that you can change it to another one and that its not stuck in the charger?

Kit contents

Charging Cable with Magnetic Connector EC21
2 x adapters (for Xperia™ Z Ultra with/without cover)
User guide
and also look here

the pack contain:
- the dock
- dock adapter for phone with covers
- magnetic cable to use it alone (longer)

Indian Ultra users only got a free phone cover. Sadly no dock so it depends from market

i use smart tags too. the sony ones are a bit expensive but simple and easy to use. i use one in my car to start google now, turn on music, bluetooth, etc. one when i get home to turn all that off, and one at my bed side for alarms and stuff. i have an extra one which i assume would be for work, but i work from home so..

i'm also interested in the magnetic dock. i'm curious how well it works, how strong the magnetic bond is, etc. i think it's the ideal way to charge (i.e., no worry about wires).

I'm also lookin at the portable NFC enabled omnidirectional speakers too.

There have been many discussions already in other forums about the EC-21 (mag connector USB cable), DK-30, the dock for Z ultra.

The verdict is not good.

All the covers that came bundled with Z ultra don't seem to fit on the dock, even with the use of the adapter. So if you want to use the dock, you need to take the cover off. I heard bundled covers came in Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore and HK. Strangely, the manufacturer and design of these covers/flip cases all varied in design. I have yet to hear anyone who says that official or bundled cover is usable with DK-30.

Anyway, I believe DK-30 is Z ultra specific?

There will be another model probably, for the honami.

And just so that people do not get the wrong idea... despite the fact that the packaging says that the DK-30 includes EC-21, reality is that it does not.

Dock and usb cable is all-in-one. You have to take the dock apart to free the cable, so that you can use it as charging cable.

And the funky thing is that EC-21 is not available anywhere, yet, despite ZU being out already for a month. Many of us, myself included had to order Chinese products that are similar.

2 days and finally caught up.
Happy to see the colours on the dummy's - a good sign of dummy's is two-fold: production is finalized and stores getting dummy's is the final product announcement - rumored for Sept 4th looks just about aligned. Can't wait, this maybe the first Sony device in 2yrs I'll be owning.

802.11ac - sweet looking forward to enjoying this.
Is this using "glass" for the rear - ala iPhone 4/4S? I pray not.

I'm not being a troll just being honest.

The 1020 will blow the Honami camera out of the water by a million miles.

But Honami's sales will blow 1020 out of Earth.

If those dummies represent how the actual product will look like, I'm so sold
Damn my scarce budget will be even worse after the release of this beast here in California
